Title: Sirius XM Help Pleas
Post by: Keithholly on April 07, 2019, 07:53:43 PM
Has anyone had issues activating their satellite radio.
Never had issues with my 2017 cvo limited.  But now with my 2019 cvo limited Sirius says my radio ID is invalid or nothing coming up in their system.
I'm wonder why????

Same issue with Sirius XM on my 17, 18 and 19 CVO Street Glide. I had to call multiple times on each bike until I was able to speak to someone that actually knew what they were doing. On my 19 I called HD Customer Service and they told me they are aware of the activation issue that customers are having with Sirius XM. They told me to ask for a supervisor but it still took several supervisors to get it activated.

I have bought three CVO's with XM and the last three GM cars. All Came with the radio's already active, in my name, for the free trail period. On everyone XM contacted me prior to end of trail to discuss contract extension.  Curious why are your dealers not doing the set-up on this? It is part of the deal you pay for.

When I purchased my 2016 CVO Street Glide, the salesman never said one word about it to me, being in the car business, I knew what to do to activate it, and trust me, most of the people at Sirius have no clue, if your having a problem, make sure you have your radio ID number and keep asking for a supervisor until you get a person that knows what your talking about also don't forget to ask about the weather, they should throw that in as well, good luck

You also have year round riding in FLA. If my dealer had activated mine when I picked up my bike in December and road it home in the light snow like I did, I would have been pissed. Sometimes not everything is cut and dry.

So the very first thing I'm attempting to do on my brand new '19 CVO Road Glide is to activate the SiriusXM in the Boom Box Infotainment, (which of course the dealer never bothered setting up).
Well, got the music channels working, but Sirius is telling me that the Traffic & Travel Link feature is not available in that radio. Tried three different reps, all with the same reply. Here we go, one week old and issues already. Why the f do I keep going back to buying HD? Must be a form of mental illness :rolleyes4:.Oh well back to the dealer we go.

I feel you're pain. The XM reps told me the same BS telling me my radio does not support XM Traffic and Travel Link. When I contacted HD customer service they told me to only talk to the XM supervisor. It took several supervisors but eventually they set it up. I went through this on my 17, 18 and 19.

Hello CVOSJOE,
Well I’ll be dammed, got it working. Took 5 calls, all who said it doesn’t work to finally get a supervisor that spoke decent English and after relating your post, agreed to check with their tech support and how about that, it does accept Travel Link. Sent a refresh signal and we are “good to go”. Thank you Joe, saved me a 65 mile trip to the dealer, who should have set this up during dealer prep in the first place!
Ahh, my love/hate Harley relationship continues.
Thanks again Joe, beers are on me :2vrolijk_09:

Got my 19 cvo road glide in November, pulled the bike out of the garage today and activated the 3 month sirius xm trial with my phone in about 10 minutes. Just pulled up the xm screen, went to channel 1 or 2, whichever screen has the radio ID. Pulled up the sirius xm site on my phone and entered the bikes radio ID under the "new trial activation" tab. It then sent a refresh signal to the bikes radio, and withing 5-10 minutes I was able to get all the xm channels.

Is Traffic and weather working?  If it is, you have set a record quick.

Sirius service needs some serious help.  I started with them back around 2003 when they were still XM; started having trouble with them after they became Sirius XM.  Here's the most recent problem:

I called their disconnect line to cancel.  Of course that line is tasked to keep the customers, but I kept saying "I want to cancel."  After about 10 minutes of that, she finally said she would cancel it.

But she had one more trick up her sleeve:  She did not cancel, so I kept getting billed on my credit card.  After 3 months in a row of disputing the charge on my card, the credit card company got fed up and put an automatic dispute on any charge coming from Sirius.

About 3 months later, I got a letter from Sirius saying my account was unpaid, and I was about to get shut off.  I called the phone number in the letter (billing department) and laughed when they repeated the threat.  I laughed and told them about the card company's auto-dispute bc Sirius had failed to cancel service when told to.  Gave them the number to my card company and said they could have the money if they convinced the credit company.  Haven't heard anything else from them, lol.

Never give them your credit card number. I pay the extra $2 for a paper bill and pay by check.

I forgot how much I really hate dealing with Siruis XM.

Tried to activate my Free Trial yesterday.  One hour and ten minutes later and two supervisors later I thought I had it completely activated.

First I was told it was a two month trial and no traffic and weather.  Get to supervisor, and then I am told yes traffic and weather after providing VIN.  Then am told its only two months.  Get a second supervisor who seemed the most helpful and actually english was his first language.  He filially told me its all taken care of, and its a 3 month trial with XM all access, traffic and weather.  I go ride the bike, it all works.

This am I look at E-mail from Siruis XM, its a two month Demo, not my 3 month trail.

I should have stuck to my statement to the first supervisor, forget the trial, cancel my wife's car and my truck.

Oh ya...Sirius is a total frigg'n train wreck. I learned about 10 years ago to NEVER give them a CC# for auto billing. My experience with those crooks was I finally CANCELED the credit card.

They are just another overseas set of thieves, like Naviextra that just wants to squeeze customers for cash. They have refined it into an art, wear you down and wear you out. I often wonder how many people just give up and pay out to these asshats because it's easier and cheaper than fighting for hours on the phone with service people that have no English skills. The tactics are very intentional...

I had bought a 6mo SiriusXM sub for 19 FLHXSE two weeks before I called and wanted the 3mo free trial.

What a debacle. They gave me a 2mo trial, not 3, and wouldn’t refund my 6mo sub $. Would only credit $75 of the $96 6mo sub.

So, they pocketed $14, shorted me a month of trial, and wouldn’t commit to giving me the $96 for 6mo rate after the trial ended.

After realizing all of this during the chat session, I told the Pakistani on the other end that I wanted to forget the whole thing, delete the trial sub, and return to the original 6mo sub.

No.......

I had to call another number to get it all put back on my original subscription, which I was able to do after much wrangling.

On an up note, I ended up with my 6mo sub and a $40 credit on my account, meaning I got 6mo of service on the bike for $7.66 per month.

I’ll live with it.

And sadly you will experience “Groundhog Day (the movie) again in six months. I gave mine up, not wanting to relive it over and over.

I can only imagine how many people would sign up IF the got their act together and got rid of the bull*$&# customer service and replaced it an with honest, helpful service. The stock would go crazy. Till they learn, their loss.

I'm calling Harley Customer Service today about Siruis XM.  I know they have had many complaints and they will get one more.  I want my full 3 month trial, not the two month demo.  Its a matter of now Siruis has pissed me off again.

I also have a few other issues I need to talk to HD customer service about.

Immediately after this latest debacle I made a calendar entry with a reminder alarm to cancel the service for 3 days prior to the renewal date. Ain't my first rodeo with them!

I would too.  I've cancelled service for the bike, my SUV, and wife's car.  Maybe if they lose a few more customers with 2 or 3 subs, they'll figure it out.   :zroflmao:

I talked to Harley Customer service yesterday about the issue with getting the Compete Sirius XM activated.  They gave me a case number.  Shock of all Shocks, Harley customer service said they were aware of the issue with Sirius XM, they have had lots of complaints.

They told me I would have to call Sirius XM again.  Harley told me to insist on talking to a Manager as soon as they said it did have traffic or not a 3 month or what ever.  Be polite and firm insist on manager.  Once you get a Manager tell the manager that Harley has a "Internal Quality Alert" with them, and for the manger to look it up.  Tell the Manager to over ride the system and active the 3 month trial for everything including traffic, weather and travel link.

I was dreading that call.  I was shocked in less then 15 minutes it was activated correctly.

So I would suggest anyone calling to activate their CVO subscription do what Harley told me to do.  Remember to let them know about their Internal quality alert.

Jerry thanks for the info about the paper bill... the subscription in my car was coming up for renewal and the price was going to double + (new car last year and got a new subscriber rate). I called them today to remove my credit card from my account, request a paper invoice, and change my plan. When speaking to cust. service rep he could remove my credit card, but I had to talk to a rep in the cancellation dept. to change my plan. When I got to the cancellation department the rep asked what I wanted to do and why, he then asked if he could check to see if there was a better rate/plan he could find for me.... Long story short he came back and offered me the All Access plan for $162/year. My renewal for this same plan prior to calling was $305/year however the discounted price for the same plan is only a $12.15 increase over my initial subscription. With all that said it does pay in the end to call and talk to someone before automatically paying the higher price for renewal.... BTW... they are quoting me $323.17 for renewal next year... guess you know what I'll be doing come this time next year. ;) :D ;D
