Title: Sad CVO...
Post by: Phreakyz on March 02, 2017, 06:27:17 AM
I was at a Salvage Auction Facility yesterday and saw this poor 2016 CVO Street Glide Phantom Flame bike.   Someone had taken the Speaker Lids and cut the wires, Air Filter and Side Covers.   The amp was still in the saddlebag and the bag was full of water from the rain.

I guess the bikes just got a little rarer because there's one less on the road!

I guess I don't know how the auction site works!   Maybe it starts at 10 AM   Anyway here's a link to the Auction.   The pics there show the Air Cleaner and the Saddlebag lids still on the vehicle???    Buyer Beware I guess...

I missed the auction, if you click on the link, it just says "sold" but I could not see where it showed the winning bid

When my crashed bike went to the salvage yard they told me it could not get registered again. Just sold for parts. Is that true?

I would think if it was brought back to manufactures specs (frame, engine, etc.) that you could get a clear title for in, but I guess that depends what state your in as well.

The last bid that I saw before it changed to Sold was $9,300.00     I would have to say that is what it went for.

In CO to do this you have to ETCH into the vehicle, where it can be seen, that it was "Rebuilt from Salvage" and if it passes the inspection, the title will be clear, but it will also state that it was rebuilt from salvage.

If the buyer doesn't plan on selling it, that bike was a steal.

yep that Salvage stamp doesn't go away usually, but sometimes does when transferred from one state to another in some cases. Some call it washing the title. If it was reported by insurance payoff then Carfax will have it in their report. However Carfax doesn't know other than an accident report or insurance report. So as was said buyer beware.

I see an out of state inspection sticker on it. I'm wondering if it was a stranger that decided Ohio 555 looked like an easy route and the bike ended up at the auction not far from the crash site.

You can get a "salvaged tittle" and register in any state. Will have trouble financing though as most financial institutions will not finance any vehicle with a salvaged tittle. Many show bikes start out this way fir obvious reasons

I bought a 2015 Street Glide Special from Copart for $9400, had 5200 miles on it. Their website sucks that you can't see the final bid or what it sold for. My next bike is going to be a 14 FLHRSE, from Copart. And yes, i'm going to try and build a show bike out of it. There are a number of them at Copart sites all over the US.
