Have noticed my SESG smells like gas after riding and makes the entire garage smell like gas. Got a few hundred miles so far and might expect it with a full tank, but it seems to be happening after almost every ride - may be calling the dealer tomorrow. Also, planning on knocking out my CC and getting some FULLSAC's - you guys like the 2.0's?

Me too. I asked the dealer to check the bike out at the 1K service. Reported all OK... Still stinks up the garage after any ride. I have SERT, fullsac modified cat-less header and fullsac 2.0" baffles if it matters.
Anyone have any ideas?

Same gas smell, after every ride. 5,500 miles. 100% stock.

I haven't noticed a fuel smell, mostly just a hint of exhaust if I leave it running. I will say, however, that since the installation of my freedoms, I have noticed more of an exhaust smell, and perhaps that drowns out the possible fuel smell! :nixweiss:

We've noticed the gas odor (can't hardly miss it in a closed up garage) after a ride. But we first noticed it in Terrie's 09 Street Glide. Now it's twice as strong. From time to time we smell something that smells like burned rubber after a ride, also. :nixweiss:

I have noticed that burnt rubber smell also, sometimes when I am at a stoplight on the bike!

smell of burnt rubber is worst on partygrounds around midnight ;)

I've noticed it as well, but to me it smells like a little unburnt fuel in the exhaust. It smells like a bike that is running a little rich. I know they run lean, but maybe you get a little too much fuel as the bike is dying when you shut it off.

Me too:
not the fuel smell but the "other" I thought it may be a mouse making a very wrong apartment decision as the bike is out in the shed and when its gets cold the field mice make their move.

maybe you can bypass the vapor recovery system. need a couple of rubber plugs is all :bananarock:

with the warmer weather, I'm now noticing the fuel like smell in the garage as well. :nixweiss:

Does anyone with the TTS tuner still have the unburnt fuel smell. My SESG smells up the garage as well, but I am waiting for my tuner and exhaust system to come next week.
I am thinking that if there is some unburnt fuel when shutting down, maybe it can be "tweaked" out with the tuner?
Any opinions?

what you smell is unburned fuel, [hydro carbons] collecting in the conveter, prob best fix is to get rid of it.

No cat, SERT, good AFR, still stinks, every time.

Have any of you considered the fact that the fuel tank is sitting directly on top of a very hot engine that will rapidly heat the fuel in the tank? To prevent serious issues with overpressure, all fuel tanks have relief valves in the cap that route the excess vapors to one of two places. California bikes have a small carbon cannister, similar to all automobiles. Forty-nine state bikes have a rubber hose that just routes the fumes out into the atmosphere.
The second area that emits fumes is that nice open air cleaner. Fuel in the intake ports after shutdown also vaporizes, and the open air cleaner just makes it easier for those fumes to escape. It's something I've noticed over the years when I've changed out the stock airbox for a SE Pro type air cleaner.

I'm not sure that the 110 is THAT much hotter than my '02 SERK, but what you say about the open air cleaner may be on the mark. I had a SE air cleaner on the '02, but of course it wasn't open on the sides like the oval on our SESGs...
