Upgrade from Blue 2010 to 2011 Black and crimson
« on: September 28, 2010, 05:46:42 AM »

Hi guys, just wanted to get some thoughts.  I have a Blue 2010 that I bought used for a great price, around $28k.  I have the option to buy a new Black and Criimson (black is my favorite color) for $30,433 plus tax and tags.  Do you think it is worth the upgrade for the color, the lowers, new tank and other minor changes.

I planned to upgrade stereo on 2010 at a minimum.......

Thanks,
Joe

Depending on what they are giving you for the '10. I'm doing it for $5k out the door.....black was always my favoritie color too..for a couple of more dollors on the monthly payment I said "why not".....some people would say that is was crazy, but the color is making me do it.

Gents,

I am out of country and wasnt really planning on a trade.  I might sell it outright or sell it to my dad at a good price since he is in his last days of riding.

He may have already done that..I am not sure what the discount for military is, but he is getting the bike at $2100 below MSRP already. And it looks like that includes freight and setup.....Just my $.02

Yes, the price I listed is the military sales prie and I would pic it up in Jan at my hometown dealer.  Yes, I am serving on the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON and permanently forward deployed in Japan.  I have at least another 18 months here before I retire or come back stateside.

What are people selling there 2010's for?  Mine has less than 1k miles on it :(  I would much rather be riding :bananarock:

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.  I think I will go ahead and put my deposit down and then I will have till delivery to make my decision.

Mal, I definitely want the pipes....I was going to email you today.

CJ, I was on the Chucky V from 93-96 when it was stationed in Alameda, CA.  Probably my favorite tour in the Navy....

How much better is the new stereo??  Does it still need and amp and speaker upgrade??

Thanks for the feedback.....

First, can't tell you (and guys like you) how much I appreciate what you do to defend me and what I have in my life. Second is that the MoCo (or any other company) would have such a program. Third, unbelievably cool that you want to try and do for your dad--hope you have some great rides together.

Almost bought a '10 last fall--really like the Tequila--but held out hoping they'd come with orange and black. Obviously you know what happened. Only have had time for 1700 miles, but it'd be hard for me to believe you'd regret it for a second. I haven't been at it as long as most on this forum, but I can't get enough.

Finally decided to crank the stereo all the way tonight, and it's pretty awesome. I think that it'll be able to handle the new exhaust that's going on tomorrow.

Guys,

I appreciate all the comments for my service, it means a lot to me.  I joined the Navy when I was 17 after getting kicked out of school and am a Naval Officer today, because I dedicated myself to my job, service and country.  Its been a great 23 years, but I think I am going to retire next year and ride with my dad and spend some time with my mom who has terminal cancer.

This is a very hard time in my life, I have been fighting with staying in for longer and more retirement or to retire.  I will let you all know what I decide......
