Title: tour pack fitment
Post by: bikeman_ne on July 14, 2015, 11:01:48 AM
the new tourpak ( chopped)came in and was installed by the dealer, 2015 Street Glide with detachable hardware.  Went to take it off over the weekend and ....harder than H@%%.  In fact decided to leave on until after Strugis in case I can't get it back on.  Recall a tread on fitment issues but can't find it.  Any suggestions.  the front attachment bolt appears to be wider, in fact the pack is actually attached to the inside chrome section, not on the outside rubber section.  Not sure the issue and probably wont be back to dealer until 5k miles.

Check out the "Maintenance" section in the installation instructions. The docking kit may be installed incorrectly or try turning the spools as described which is to tighten, they may be at there tightest position so turning may ease up the tension?

I'm a little confused I ordered the Part # 92200073EBR does that not include the leather back rest I know I had to provide and order the correct key for the look and the mount bracket but the seat too?

It does not. You have to purchase the passenger backrest for the tour pak separately.

So I guess my next question would be what does it come with do I need to order the hinges, latch and felt for inside etc.  Thanks for your help in advance.

Your welcome.

It comes with the hinges and the latch. Unless it changed since 2012 when I bought one it does not come with a felt liner, yet another extra. It will probably have a  thin rubber mat which lays on the bottom, thats it.

You'll need a mounting rack and a passenger pad and you'll be set. You can also add some lighting if you wish, check the catalog.

Yes, the front mount of the tour pak attaches to the inner chrome looking spacers, not the outside black plastic spots (that's where a detachable backrest would attach).

Best thing I can tell you to do is to get the instructions for the detachable hardware kit.  The black spools are oval in shape, so there are "looser" and "tighter" positions.  Also, there are chrome washers, spacers, etc that can be placed in different locations.

I had similar trouble and once I read the instructions, which talked about how to get things aligned better, my sissy bar and my tour park go on snugly, but not tight and not difficult and I don't have to push and twist to get things aligned.

If you look up the docking hardware part number on HD's website, the instructions can be downloaded and printed out.

I took mine off to detail the SG after a ride for a couple hours in the rain and muck. Well, I went to re-install the King TP last night and WTF!!! ... Man was that a PITA... Had to literally lay down on top the TP to get latches to seat. They would go on about 75% and stop. Finally got it on and done, don't think I'll be taking it off again anytime soon... :nixweiss:

Yesterday I included a link from the HD website for the installation instructions of the 4 point docking hardware kit. They have since updated the instructions and have the old ones on the website.  :confused5: The updated Revision is dated 2014-01-09.

As JPLUT mentioned its more than likely a matter of loosning up the oval shaped spools and spinning them slightly to acheive proper alignment. I took a few pics of the current installation instructions and will attempt to attach. If they don't show shoot me an email and I'll forward to you.

When I installed my docking hardware kit I was able to use a luggage rack to test the fitment. I had to turn the spools a little to get it right.

I apologize they are sideways, I'm working with an Ipad and I don't know how to flip them and the resolution doesn't look that great for some reason?
