High Altitude Weekend
« on: July 21, 2005, 01:28:37 AM »

This weekend, took the annual 5 in 1 run with HOG out of Colorado Springs.  The idea is go over 5 passes of 10,000 ft or higher in one day.  I made it 8 in two days, and it was fantastic as usual.  If any of you decide that you want to have a CVO gathering in this neck of the woods this is some of what you can see.  Total mileage was 977, consisted of 8 hours one day, and 11 hours the next in the saddle, but it was worth it.

Must've been a lot of fuel injected bikes  [smiley=7.gif]

Also sounds like a heluva nice way to ride out a weekend.

Great pictures!
From the looks of the jackets it must have been a little chilly!
Any other CVO bikes?

Striker thanks for sharing the flicks.  Reminded me of my trip to Divide, Colo. last year.  A beautiful state, for sure.

Didn't see one CVO, in a total of 400 bikes.
As far as EFI 2lanr, I have made that run for 5 years on a 95 FLHT, carbed of course.  No problem, in fact pulled away from alot of EFI twin cams from the first few years of production.

Guess if you're starting up somewhere closer to "up there" it'd be a better deal.  Was just grinning to myself least night when I saw your post thinking about a few time on previous bikes I'd had to stop on the way and do a little carb tinkering to make it over the mountains.  Fond memories  [smiley=beerchug.gif]

yeah, set up that '95 with D&D mufflers, leinweber E-5S cam, Screamin' Eagle RT, bored out the air jets on the carb, ran a 185 main jet, K&N filter, 9:5 KB pistons.  It ran great, but wouldn't touch this SEEG on top end.  Come to think of it, it would have been a challenge to run with this 103 up to 90 mph. I know I must be confused, but why a Race Tuner with a carb?  Not to mention, I thought I was leinweber's only customer...  I never met ANYONE else who had ever used their cams.  Most folks have never heard of them.  How cool is that?! [smiley=6.gif]
