I have the same problem on my 15 cvo ltd and on my 04 FLSTC

CVODON:
The GaugeMods guy gets them apart and changes the face of the gauge for a resonable price so he could probably help on disassembly to clean the gauge lens. Maybe he would even clean them for a fee?
