It will cost you about the same and then you still have the weak crank bearing.

Who sold you on the fact that the bearings are weak? Timkens are not that much of an improvement! the bearings are only an issue if your runnin' high RPM's consistently (over 5000 rpm) and if that's the case it doesn't matter much what you have it's not gonna last real long.

That depends on who you talk too.  With the correct valve train, the twin cam can live at 6200 RPM in short spurts without much difficulty.  My point is why go with a 113 that requires splitting the cases, boring the crap out of them (with no reliability guarentees), plus what ever else one would have to do, ending up with a motor that cost at least as much as the Jim's or S&S, with comparable hp and tq.  My thought is if your going to play the game, stick the money in a replacement motor and put your original on the shelf for when it is time to trade.  Just my .02.  Spook.

A  Jim's case will take up to a 4.8 piston.
Mine are 4.5
4.5 bore, 4.5 stroke = 1 fst bgr!

You have my undivided attention.  Please tell me the specifics of your motor, as the 4.5x4.5 was EXACTLY what I was considering.  Issues that concern me are reliability, heat, reliability, cost, reliability, who did your heads, what cams do you run, reliability.  You get the idea.  Very interested in duplicating your motor.  Is it a fuelie or a carb motor?  Anything else I need to know??  Thanks in advance.  Spook.

Yeah, 'er 'uh, spook,
As I have stated in previous posts, the Jim's 120 pales in comparison to my Zipper's 120.  That is not MHO, that is a fact.  Another fact is the cost.  It is considerably less expensive to build it with Zipper's components.  As far as reliablity, I can assure you I have shown mine no mercy since Feb. '04.  It's a little hard on rear tires, (135 lbs. ft. torque), but has given me nothing but pleasure.  To me, it was more practical to punch my motor, than to buy one and save one.  Later--HUBBARD

That is food for thought.  I can get a complete Jim's motor with head work, cams and modified manifold for $8400 out the door, plus have my original motor to put back in the bike when I trade.  That was my thought.  Does the Zipper's motor look like a "stock" motor?  That is one of the issue with going with a 124 S&S.  Like the sleeper look.  Just my .02.  Thanks for the reply. Spook.

That Hubbard guy is right.
A Jim's 120 pales in comparison to my 143.
My cases and crank are Jim's.
Had to be, to fit the 4.5" cylinders
That's where it started, not where it finished.
Lots of those high dollar Zipper parts on my motor.

You can't get 158/167 and reliability with junk.

Please provide details of your build.  Could you get the same results with the Jim's motor, with head work, ect. if the bottom end and cases are the same.  Did you get the zipper's jugs/pistons?  What else is needed to get the results you have?  Total cost estimate?  Thanks in advance.  Spook.

Yeah, 'er 'uh, reg26,
It's on this Great Site several times, I just can't find it! [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  Maybe another member knows where it is, and will respond.  Excuse my less than stellar computer skills. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]  Later--HUBBARD
