SADDLE BAG POWER / ADDED USB
« on: February 08, 2023, 09:45:21 AM »

Has anyone tapped into the existing power & ground in the saddle bags to add a USB charging port ?

I put a 4 port in my tourpack. It's constantly hot, but has an on/off rocker switch.  It allows me to recharge my headset and phones while at lunch.

Add this to your battery tender harness.

Then plug this in and you have a direct connection to you battery (always on) and you can use any type of charger you want.

Or just this.

I used this on my Roadking and put my phone in my saddlebag to charge. Less than $20.

Go to amazon and put in part # Go - 081-0158

These are great options, but I want to put the outlet inside the saddle bag without drilling holes in them.

Figured since we already have power inside the saddle bag (amp & fob lock) someone had tapped into that power for additional use ..

We, at my shop, chase allot of electrical problems that often led to someone tapping into the power supplying an accessory for something else added to a circuit that became overloaded.
You can get rubber graumets for the saddle bag to run the wires in and keep it weather tight.
Put tape at the new hole location, a sharp bit on slow speed and do it right with a designated , proper amp fuse for the load.

Agreed.  After much research seems like my best option is to use the accessory plug under the side panel, and wire that thru into the saddle bag.

Just need to find the best wiring, plug, grommet option/combination so my saddle bag can be removed, and still look like it belongs on a CVO !
