17 Limited Hertz 6 speaker audio build
« on: February 28, 2023, 09:02:26 PM »

Starting a thread to document my Audio upgrade.
Bike is a 17 CVO Limited with factory Boom1.
A few weeks ago I installed HDHU.14SI in hopes it would satisfy me.  Head unit is amazing but the amp and speakers were just not up to my standards. I started with the recommended wireless android auto adapter but was not happy probably because I'm used to factory wireless AA in my 2500hd.
I mocked up a few handle bar phone mounts but did not like the look for fit.  I ended up running 2 USB cables down back bone to left saddle bag for direct phone connection on long rides.  I ran 2 so when one fails I have a spare.
Last week I placed a large order from Volunteer for the SP4.900 amp with SX165NEO for fairing and SX165NEO for tourpack.  Along with sub harnesses for lower fairing and saddlebag for future.
Still waiting on amp and speakers from Vol they build each harness to the bike along with bypass plugs.
I have since decided to add lower pods from metra with the SX165NEO.
All speakers are 4 ohm, Front channels will be parallel at 2ohm and rears just solo at 4ohm for now.

I will post pictures and reviews as I install.

Has anyone had luck with 6x9 cut kits for bikes with electric locks?

Painted speaker pods matte black today, trying to figure out a coating to match factory.

My brother did 6X9's in his 2016, had to remove the electric lock from the lids. Not sure if that is required for all manufacturers but I would bet it is. The electric lock takes up quite a bit of space.....

I'm trying to figure out why you would start a thread, tell everyone that you will post pics and reviews as you install but then do nothing. I'm sure there are a lot of us that are interested in your opinion of the Hertz outfit with the HDHU.14si head unit. Come back and tell us your story.
