Best to have the machine running correctly as soon as possible, neither rich nor lean.
An over-fueled condition can have detrimental affects also.

Called installer yesterday , yes he agrees that is getting hot ,figures the break in tune has somehow leaned it self out . They would like me to put a few more miles on it before they re dyno it but I believe I my be doing damage to the motor that will show up sooner than later, probably right after I have no more warranty  :nixweiss:  I thought these break in tunes are suppose  to be rich if anything!

Not really.  It would be best to have it right on, as opposed to overly lean or overly rich.  Rich can cause things like washing down cylinder walls for instance.  Gasoline isn't a great lubricant for cylinder walls and pistons/rings.  A truly good tune shouldn't have to be changed later just because you reached some magical number of miles.

I agree it should be tune correctly from the start. That is the only way we do it here.  There are other opinions and what works for them is what works for them. However the heat you have is still really not a bid deal.

But again your massive changes in EL have very little to do with AFR ,...timing will play a much larger role there.. provided the tune was sound to start with.

IME, the best way to break in a motor is on the dyno where temps are controlled and afr/timing is correct.

Thanks all for your knowledgeable replies . My tuner is 600 miles away, just not  sure if I would do harm riding the bike there or load and haul it ? Our riding season is just so short here I would hate to have any more troubles after losing last year with the cam plate bushing problem .

a break in tune should be right on,not lean or rich.a rich condition can cause as much (or more) engine damage than lean with cylinder wash down.for the oil to be getting that hot,ide be VERY concerned about cylinder head temp

Yep.
Gasoline is a solvent, not a lubricant.
