A little "fur" I can and do expect. If you zoom in on the pic you can see what looks like the edge or tip of one of the gear teeth, this is not normal.

Exactly!  Those are relatively large pieces, not just the normal fine particles you might expect on a first oil change.

Maybe maybe not. But I’ll bet we all agree that if he brings it into the dealer now they are going to say “it’s normal”, change the fluid and five it back to him.

If it isn’t already, it needs to make some noise or fail completely before they will think about getting into the internals.
