Title: 2010 RG windshield trim piece.
Post by: NETacoma03Fatboy on March 14, 2012, 12:43:06 AM
My Buddies could not get this on my 2010 RG.  Any suggestions?   Does the rubber trim stay on or does it come off?   Thanks.

thats the problem I think...I have a Clearview and just got the trim piece for it but it wont fit it appears the angle of the shield is different I just put it with the rest of the crap I bought and will probably never use.. it does fit with the small black 6" harley shield I have for summer so will use it on that..

I have  the  same  problem.  I  just  took  delivery  of a new  Maple metallic  with  the  stock new Windsplitter Windshield. In  the  new supplement  to  the  P&A catalogue it says  under the  picture "shown  with a windsplitter windshield". My   guys at  the  dealership tried for  over  an  hour  to  make  it  fit  but  no  luck.Has  anyone  out  there  put the  black gloss trim  on  their New CVO RG  with  the  stock windsplitter not  the  standard RG windshield or  any other  king  of  windshield.

Put it on my RGC with the CW 12" and no problems. It requires some work th get it right, the offset holes need to be adjusted right and this process took me (not a wrench) a couple of hours to get it all laying flat. No the stock rubber goes away. Use just the rubber it the kit!

I did it with the Harley wind splitter. It was a pita. I used no rubber except what is on the trim, I enlarged the slots in the shield and basically clamped the shield tight using the trim. Have to admit it's a bit ugly under the trim but nobody will ever see it so no prob. Just cover everything including the floor, I must have dropped the trim a dozen times trying to make it fit.

According to Long Ride Shields the hole spacing is different on the CVO bikes compared to the non CVO not sure if thats right but when I spoke to them last week they gave up a sale because of this I had already ordered and mentioned CVO Harley when he asked if it was a CVO .. they were going to have to set up equipment to make it special with the different hole spacing I was going to replace Clearview shield as the angle of the shield was leaving a 1/4" gap all the way across at the bottom of the shield ..I even went out and tried again Friday to make sure I wasnt doing something wrong..

Hey Kiwihog, have a Clearview on my FLTRUSE, used the stock windshield gasket (carefully peel from stock shield) and have a windshield that fits tight and snug, no space, no gaps.

Yep I got the windshield on with the OE rubber but cant get the windshield chrome trim cover on seems because of the angle I wanted to cover the holes because the black decal on the inside of the shield has rippled at the screw holes and looks ugly shield was installed last year by Clearview at AZ bikeweek works great and Clearview sent me a replacement sticker but decided to wait till I cant stand the look any longer

I'll try tomorrow, because I'm working with a first gen IPAD it might not be easy. Anyway once it was done it looks perfect but my trade was as a tool and die maker and that makes re-designing stuff easy.

Nice! When the dealers meeting catalog came out it was the first time I saw it! I replaced my chrome for the new black trim that I had been looking for, as soon as I saw it I ordered it!! It entirely changed the look...
