I have a Danny Gray Big seat solo with rider back rest and gel inserts on the 09 SERG.

I have a Corbin Classic Solo with Oval back back rest on order for the Skunk I am waiting on.

Dave good choice on the Corbin classic...I tried to fit an 09 classic onto the 12fltrxse
would not fit.  The '12 has the raised ribs on the rear fender
Hopefully Corbin takes that into account.  Really like the Corbin seats
and will be putting one on new blue ('12 fltrxse).

I really am wondering now if Corbin Changed anything for the seat then.  I guess I will know soon enough.

The raised rips on the fender high enough to keep the seat from locking down?

I sure hope they did not steer me wrong, I ordered it in person in the Daytona store during Biketober fest.

i would think the raised ribs would only affect a rear passenger pillion. i took
my C&C solo from my 11 CVO SG and put it on my 12CVO RGC fit fine. im going to corbin florida  jn a couple of days with my 12 RGC to check out seats. will report back on the fit of the classic solo and i also want to look at the hollywood solo

That is what I was thinking / hoping.  I will not be running a passenger pillion, did not run one on the 09 SERG either.

Stopped at corbin ormond beach today to check out seats. Sergio showed me a classic solo a hollywood solo and a gambler two up. the first hollywood did not seem to fit well around the tank and console area. so he got a different one and it fit nice. then he put a classic solo on and it fit well and looked good on the bike. there were no problems with the raised ribs on the fender. he put a pillon on the back over the fender ribs and it looked like that would also fit but it would be close. was not interested in the pillion so we did not fasten it down.then we tried a gambler. that one also looked and fit the bike nice. comfort wise the classic solo wins with the gambler second its a bit narrower.as far as looks on the bike they all the look good. i wanted to take a day to decide which one to get. if the hollywood was more comfortable i would get that one but it seemed a little stiff. leaning towards the classic solo good looks and feels good with some back support also.hope this helps anyone thinking of putting a corbin on their new bike

Had a Corbin classic solo on 2010, tried something different on the '11 (mistake) and I will be ordering another Corbin over the winter. May not feel like the softest seat out there, but it's great for long distance comfort.

I am glad to hear the classic solo is not an issue with the raised ribs.  That is what I ordered during Biketoberfest, but did not have the bike to check it on.  Seat is due the same week the bike is due in.  I did not get the pillon, just a rider back rest.  This will be my first Corbin.

I really liked my mustang, on the fatboy, but looks are not as good as corbin or danny gray.

I like the looks of the danny gray big solo seat on my 09 SERG but am hoping the corbin provides more long haul comfort while looking better than the mustang and almost as good as the danny gray.

Only reason I would swap seat is to gain the ability to install a driver backrest... that Close Solo is the one I am looking at... might take time out next weekend to ride over to check them out...would be great if they can do the diamond stitching like the stock seat...

Back to corbin today chose the classic solo mostly because of the feel of this seat compared to the hollywood and gambler seats.there  is much more thigh and lower back support with the classic. this seat is much nicer than the stock one.had about three hours in the saddle with it very nice firm but not hard.I think it looks great on the bike too the fit is perfect no gaps around the tank area. the back of the seat just touches the front of the fender ribs not resting on top of them not an issue. also went with a back rest chose a solid back over the oval back just felt better to me. i am happy with this seat. ;D

Stever,

Your bike and new seat look great! :2vrolijk_21: I am curious re the Corbin Gunfighter and whether it fits with the fender rails, how it looks, etc.  Did you happen to look at it?

Thank you

sorry did not put the gunfighter on was thinking about it but had decided on the classic solo so i did not. did put the gambler on kind of a square back seat . it looked good and it looked like it would still fit even with the fender ribs

Seat looks great on your bike!!!  The girlfriend is considering one for her new Skunk.  How does it change your ride position?  Does it move you up, down, forward, back, etc... compared to the factory CVO seat?  She's 6' tall and long legged so seat position is an issue.

did not notice much of a change in seating position i have long legs at 5-10 and could still stretch out nicely when needed. the seat is wider but had no problem flat footing my bike at a stop light.much better support with this seat. done about 2500 miles on it so far no complaints.

I have a Danny Gray Butt Crack on my '09 SERG.  I had it on my '08 FLHX (9300 miles this past summer) and transferred it to the RG when I got it on Oct 1.  I was only able to put 1700 miles on it before having to put it away for the winter, but I can tell there are some adjustments I'll have to make to ensure it's as comfortable as it was on the Street Glide.

Whatever ends up feeling good to you.  Asses are not a one-seat-fits-all thing.  Sit on different options when you get the chance.  I like Corbins.  Many do.  Others don't.  Asses are different.

Hahahaha^^^^
so many ways to misinterpet this!

But in all honesty twolane is right...

you need to find a seat that makes your ass comfy because your ass isnt changing to fit the seat.

Yes I would love to know feedback on the seat. Got one like new from a member on another forum en route to me. Hopefully I will have it before next weekend so I can test it out.

I would also like to know from either Dave or Steever, did the seat change your seating position at all from the stock solo seat?

I am going to have a new set of bars fabbed up soon but want to square away my seating first.

Thanks

Well I got the new seat, ten days before the bike.

Got the Bike Friday and put the new Corbin on.  I have 554 miles on the seat and bike so far.  I think I am going to like this better than the Danny Gray that was on the FLTRXSE3.

I have 7200 miles on the seat now.  Feels even better than when I first got the seat.  I have done a 600 mile day on it, much better than my big seat from Danny Gray that I had on the 09.

The seat is about the same height as stock, and about the same distance from the bars, however it is wider in the back and in the front, so when putting your feet on the ground they are spread a little wider.

The seat seems to be wearing well.

If that is a problem you can send it back to Corbin once for some mods. They can do a "nose job" which will narrow the nose so your legs don't need to spread out as far to touch the floor.

Not a problem at all, was just point that out for people who may be interested in the seat, but of shorter stature.  I still flat foot with no issue at all, I'm 6'1".  My wife 5'6" says it is to wide for her.

My Corbin came today, feels good, but moved me up (height wise) and forward, really want to retain the stock seating position......

Yes I did I feel like I'm on top of the gas tank now, there is considerably more buffeting from being higher up over the windshield, and when I stretch my legs out now I'm easily passed the crash bar, with the stock solo, the front of my foot barely touches the crash bar......

Like I said comfortable, but if it sat me like the stock seat, I would be good.

At this point I'm seriously considering buying a stock RGC seat and sending it to MCC and buying an HD rider backrest kit.

I guess I didn't notice the riding position change.  I rode the bike home 57 miles from the dealer and changed seats, and windshields.  Only think I noticed was it was wider at the nose and had more support in the back.

I have a Danny Gray Airhawk en route to try, so we'll see.

If not then I will look for another option......I don't think you can run a backrest with the stock SESG solo either, so that puts me back to a stock RGC seat and having it modified......

I was trying to avoid the expense involved in finding the seat for me but I guess that's inevitable, that's another reason why I bought these second hand to try out to not take a huge hit if I re-sell afterwards.
