Left turn led fault
« on: July 20, 2020, 09:28:47 AM »

Hope someone could help me out .
It's for a friend he has a 2017 RK flhr . The left turn arrow led on the led bar above the ignition  switch will not come on the right flashes fine but nothing on the left.

Would I be right to say the led strip will need replacement?  Or ar they individual lights?

Any schematics on replacing this unit would be grateful.  I'm trying to give him a hand on the repair save him taking it to the shop he himself hasn't any idea how to go about repairing it himself.

Cheers

The indicator assembly doesn't appear to be serviceable (but I could be wrong), it comes as a complete harness and module assembly (see photo attached).  It runs around $52 USD from Harley, part number 69200124  WIRE HARNESS, CONSOLE.

You might want to verify the circuit for the left turn indicator is energized with the turn signals operating before replacing the assembly.  It's the Blue/Pink wire in the attached schematic.

Assuming the front and rear left signals blink and the dash indicator does not, replacing this part is likely the solution.

The part you're looking at is the new one Harley went to in 2014.  Prior to that the same back to 99.  The old one you could open up and mess with.  Mother Harley didn't sell internal components but there was nothing special inside that kept you from cheaply tinkering.

I've replaced one of the newer one like you're messing with.  When having the dead one in hand did go ahead and tear it open to see what was inside and if it might suggest being cheaply serviced if one were so bored as to really really really need something to do.  That's been 3+ years ago now but I distinctly remember tossing the old part in the bin thinking it was way more trouble than it was worth.

We went ahead and ordered up a new harness £88.00 it'll be here in 10 days coming from Germany.

Let us know if that fixes it. My 08 softail has a similar problem, left indicator is very weak and right is pretty normal. Never thought of it before but I got LED bulbs in all the sockets.
