When I remove the negative cable from the battery, how do I keep the alarm from going off? Thanks

     X2 pull the maxi fuse.

If you don't and you make an ark/spark there's a high risk chance it could short the starter relay and the motor won't crank thus
A new starter relay would be required.

As noted above, the secret is to FIRST disarm the security system by having the fob nearby and turning on the ignition.  Then pull the Maxi fuse to cut power to the system.  Turn the ignition switch off once the fuse is pulled, then change your battery. Once the battery has been changed and the connections verified, install the Maxi fuse.  You should be ready to go.

That is what I've done but with one change.  After turning on the ignition and making sure the security system disarmed I turn the ignition off.  Then quickly before it rearms I pull the Maxi fuse.  In this way there is no chance of an electrical spark when pulling the fuse and I just think it is safer.  It takes a couple seconds for the security system to rearm so I've never had any difficulty in pulling the Maxi fuse before the system can rearm.

I'll confess,...it was the all mighty great lord spark in circuitry system that informed me "you make me spark you suffer consequences"   :P
