2007 SE Ultra - Tour Pak leather cover has bubbles
« on: May 02, 2007, 08:00:05 PM »

I took delivery of my new 2007 SE Ultra several weeks ago and since have noticed a few bubbles under the leather tour pak cover. Has anyone else had this issue? Will the dealer correct?

I am sure you will be able to list your dealer excuses to go with all the other ones already posted, so if you didn't get my drift the long and short to both questions is :yes and no. If you put bike out of the sun or let dry after rain or wash the ostrich portion anyway usually flattens back out. Welcome to the site, and good luck, John

wdrevell,

Yes - no    I'm sure that's not the answer you want but that's the truth.  Keep the sucka treated with HD's leather paste (or somebody elses equivalent) and the bubbles won't be too noticable.

Be sure an watch the spots where the lid fits the bottom --if you see a few wear marks where they come together just put some black electrical tape over them to prevent wear through -- the dealers won't fix that either.

This was a big issue with the '06s when the leather tour pak was first introduced.  My '06 never had a wrinkle but I know of many that did.  As said it seems to vary with temp & humidity.  Covering is not glued down tight so it can breath and move.

With that said every single '07 I have seen, including mine, has some degree of wrinkle/pucker in tourpak top and often on the speaker boxes.  My theory is that moco purposely has them made that way so they can truthfully say "they all do that" and that this is a normal condition, end of story, no remedy possible.   :nixweiss:

When it get's wet especially, it's a Shar Pei.  Full of wrinkles and yes, they to go away when dried out.

I would call them "character lines" for the tour pak... ;D

We all have them, some more than others...
