Those of us who tow, show what'cha tow!
Let's see those beautiful rigs. I'll start off with mine, then after JC shows his rig, maybe we can generate some real interest! :D
Here's one of my Bushtec Turbo +2 taken back in March '07, the day I picked her up at the factory in Tennessee. This was my old Ultra Classic that I totaled in August of '10 with 40k miles on her. Obviously, I wasn't pulling the trailer at the time.
-
This photo was taken at Bushtec in 2013 of Billy Midkiff (I captured the photo from the Bushtec web site).....the guy that I bought my bike and trailer from.
-
A closeup view...
-
Room for my wife when she gets a little too crazy! ;D
-
This is Dave, my best man at Patty's and my wedding, and one of my lifetime best friends. That's his wife Kat, who was my wife's Patty's Maid of Honor.
I was with him in '09 when he picked up this beauty for his '07 Ultra Classic.
-
Talk about color matched. Bushtec can paint with the best of them.

The Bustec Quantum that I brought home night before last...

Current set up the day I picked it up in Moore Oklahoma

Towed this home yesterday 1996 Turbo-2.
I will forgo all the others there would be way too many. lol
-
Very nice, Jim! What ever became of the one in the first picture? Sold with the bike?
-
Harry, I sold it and bought my wife's brother a house trailer to live in since he is incapable of finding a job and pissed all his money away. Some day I will fill you in on it.
-
Not a great pic.....

Beauty, Dave!!

We were almost stopped for an accident on the Ohio Turnpike and got hit from behind by a SUV. The driver admitted to be going 70mph and "couldn't understand why everyone was stopping". The SUV and RG had to be towed, the Bushtec...too many pieces to count, but took and attenuated the force of the impact to us.

That's just downright scary. Not only was the guy virtually oblivious, but admitted to be a frickin' idiot afterward! Glad you guys weren't hurt bad!

I bought this N-Line 6 years ago. Pulls great and easy to store out of the way.

Yep, those both look good behind their tow rides. :bananarock:

Stopped in the Bushtec booth last week at Thunder Beach Rally. Nice looking trailers. Did not realize they are a Tennessee company located near Knoxville. May have to pay them a visit in the future.

Definitely worth a visit. Been there several times and always make a stop if in the area.

Yep! Just a little over a 3 hour drive for you! Call ahead and they may give you a tour of the factory! They did with me when I picked my trailer up from them.
-
Thought I would share this with you all. I sold a air wing to to a guy converting his Bushtec to haul his dog. I also gave him an old windshield I had so the wind wasn't right in the dogs face all the time. Turned out really nice. He cut the top and put the trim and everything himself then had it color matched to his bike. The trailer was a color matched Dura cell when he got it.
-
Picked up a used, but in great condition NLine, put about 1512 miles on it in the last 3 days, holds a lot of items, tows like it isn't even behind the bike, actually the higher speed the less you feel.(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160519/11db7369a5002954e410c2148d29c26c.jpg)

The silver on the trailer really makes the paint scheme look awesome. Very nice looking combo. You must have long arms for those bars, they do look nice.

Thanks for the compliments. As for the handle bars, they are Factory47 14in Malo bars. And yes i do have some lomg arms as i stand 6'5" with 37in reach on the arms. The original bars were un comfortable and gave me pains in my neck from being hunched over and pinched the nerves in my neck. Again as for the trailer the paint scheme was done by paint by gene in tacoma Washington. He also added red strips on the top to match the paint scheme on the tank. Thanks again for you compliments.

See only a short guy 5'6" knows this haha. I understand comfort with the bars as I have the opposite problem the reach for me on the stock bars hurt my shoulders after awhile. Nice to know there is good painter not to far north for me if needed.

I was hauling them to Ribfest last year for HOGSAM to put on ne of his dog trailers that he sold and was delivering to Kentucky. That way the new owner had brand new tires.
I also mounted my spare underneath the trailer and had 12 gallons of MS in the front where that tire was.

Very nice, Rick. I like how the fenders on the trailer have the same cool chrome accent as the bike does.
That is a big long rig!
-
Man what a collection of Bushtec. Sure some good looking trailers in this thread. Our Aluma has sure been a good trailer for us.
-
Thought I would share my latest find with you all even though I no longer have a CVO. Picked up in South Florida going to need tires and a good detail on the paint as it has some scratches. 2001 Roadstar flamingo not included
-
I have had 4 Bushtec's with the forged polished wheels. Pretty much one of each variety and they require polishing from time to time. I like the idea of chroming the OEM spokes it would be a clean look and different from the forged wheels. I have also thought about powder coat silver. Either way you go I'm sure they will look great
-
Love the matching BLUE :2vrolijk_21:
-
We had a similar situation with ours. I bought a 2007 Bushtec new and color-matched to our 2007 Ultra Classic in cobalt blue. I kept the trailer after I totaled the Ultra, and 8 years later bought our current CVO. They are close enough in color that you'd think they were matching at a distance. It's only up closer that you can see the differences. It worked out nice in our case, even tho I didn't buy the bike in blue specifically for that reason!

I scored a Roadstar last weekend just before Eureka Springs. Saw the Craigslist ad for the trailer up a little east of St. Louis. Seller was asking only $750 for it. Saw this on Saturday and knew it wouldn't last the week until the Eureka Springs Gathering was over so went up Sunday and brought it home. Didn't have to do anything.
It's a 2005. Just a basic Roadstar. Clean inside and out. Tires two years old. Threw it full of things to haul down to Eureka for the week. Sometimes just get lucky.
I've been wanting a Roadstar for a long time. Had others but never kept them. This one I'll hang on. Black works with anything. Not going to dress it up much (if any) at all. Just have the thing to use. Only parts I ordered for it are a tongue stand and a lock replacement. The lock in it requires using the key to open the lid. Replacing it with a lock kit that also has a push button so won't always have to use the key.

Nice, good find Don :2vrolijk_21:

I give the Roadstars 👍👍. I have one and in black also. Did some pin striping to march a little better and if I switch bike can always redo the stripes colors. Great find Don, Let's Roll

$750 for a 2005 Roadstar? Dang it, Don. Did you purchase some lottery tickets that same weekend? Very well done, sir.
Every week long or longer trip, we pack sparingly....there are times I sure do miss my Bushtec days.... :'(
Reading back over this thread, I got a bit nostalgic for my previous bushtec trailers. Found this picture of my '97 UC (last year you could choose either Carb or FI...it's a carb) with the last one I had, Genesis color matched....dang that thing pulled good. I've got a pic somewhere of the first one, 1994 Turbo II I got from John, installed at Bushtec trailer in Sturgis before the trek home on my 1994 FXSTC....still looking for it and will post when I find it. First gas stop off I-90 riding home, I forgot the thing was back there and upon braking at the top of the ramp, slid right through the stop sign and in the middle of the road...glad nothing was coming. Lesson learned and did'n'a do dat again.... :nervous:
-
Here's what I used to tow.
This American Legend served us very well for a number of years. However when my wife took over riding this '97 Ultra and I purchased my '05 SEEG there was no need for the extra space. We decided to sell the trailer, and thankfully for more money ;D than we purchased it "used" for years earlier.
-
Nice rig, Grizz.
Found the 1994 FXSTC pic before trailer. It was loaded down (riding two up, too) and one of my riding buddies, Doug G riding my old 1989 Classic which is sitting behind my bike...first trip to Sturgis, circa 1994....wow, no grey in that beard...and our other friend's bike (who made all 5 1990's trips to Sturgis with me, Steve H..he was taking the pic), the '93 90th anni UC.... ;D
Side note....the 1989 EG Classic that Doug was riding was also owned by me (bought used) and by Steve (who bought it new)...it's still running, by the way.
-
Same bike with new Bushtec Turbo II after 1994 Sturgis and in Cherokee Fall rally, 1994.

It’s been a while since I shared any of the trailers I have had. Actually since my last post I have bought and sold 5 more. Scored this Monday it’s a 2001 Kompact Kamp Excell. Guy got it with a Slingshot he bought off his deceased neighbors wife. Pulled it up to the dealer to register the warranty and the dealer gave home a choice remove the hitch or lose the warranty. He folded and put the trailer up for sale. Wanted $800 I asked him his best price and his wife chimed up $400.

Thank you. There are a bunch of trailers out there just sitting in garages waiting for new owners.

I put 10,000 miles on one!

Chip it is, 2003 Model Got it from the original owner who bought it at bike week 16 years ago. I can say this much its a big one should never have a problem with room. First time in a long time the guy actually still had the certificate of origin.
-
Well I brought this one home today. Last Friday I picked up a little Harbor freight trailer too. Proving once again I may have a problem. Lol
Yeap, what Chip said. American Legend. Had one of those for a couple of years and pulled it maybe 4000 miles over a couple of short trips. Works fine. Tons of room. It pulled harder and was more noticeable than the Bushtec though. Eventually sold it. Liked the looks. But it was heavier and the Roadstar I ended up with (again) pulls a lot easier.

What Don said. The American Legend is a bigger heavier trailer but it's a well built trailer. I liked mine but the Bushtec is my favorite.

They are big trailers Jim. You can haul a lot more than my Roadstar. Also like that removing the wheels is a far more standard operation and that wheel sizes are standard. Those are both downsides to the Corbin; even if only a bit.
-
The new lights look really good Jim.

Thanks Mike it needed them it’s a big trailer to be hauling around in the dark with just taillights. Here it is from the back now
Are they all LED lights?
-
Are they all LED lights?
JC. Yes all LEDs the only way to go as far as I’m concerned.
-
Really not towing but a great way to get the bike and my bumper pull trailer around.
-
Well bought another one lol.

Can't wait to see them together. Got hitch parts or have to wait on UPS to bring parts?

Have a line on a hitch may have to run over to Sebring tomorrow if it’s atill available.
Here are some of the parts that I got. Going to leave it set up solo with the Maverick seat. Will sell the passenger portion.

Success picked up a chrome Hitch Doc for $100 off a guy in Zephyrhills Florida this morning. Next to make my wire harness and get another Bushtec pin so I don’t have to move them around.

Relatively sure I've got some harness parts left over. Don't buy anything yet. I'll take a look tonight and let you know.
-
Thanks Don I will stand by. Put the lowers back on today and found places to put all the parts I got with the bike. Need to make a run to Ohio I have a tourpack Saddlebags and lowers I picked up for my son in laws bike. Need them out of my space.

Sweeeet ! Excellent combination. We have a 03 Anniversary Dyna in the family and all that silver on chrome is awesome. IMO the 00's and 03's are hands down the nicest bikes Harley has produced.

Quick look last night and did not find the box I know exists somewhere. Know I've got all or most of a harness somewhere. Will look again tonight. Tonight is not stupid busy all night.

Doc I have to say this particular 03 handles and rides like it’s brand new. Of course with only 30,000 miles in 16 years it certainly hasn’t seen a lot of road time. I recently sold a 1995 30th anniversary Electra Glide and it handled and road great too. I doubt if I will ever buy a new one again.
Are you buying new when you sell yours.

Harness; scored.
I made up 30 Bushtec type harnesses a few years ago and eBay'd all but three (I think). One of the remainder went on the SERK, one got set back for a rainy day and I knew there was one just spare somewhere. Found that bitch.
Have a harness with the 6 pin WeatherPack connector like Bushtec uses on one end and all unterminated on the other. Also have the interconnect adapter to go between the plugs behind the battery to go with it. All taking up space in a toolbox drawer. Drop your address and will get them on the way.

My wife and I have been trending more to off-roading and less motorcycle touring. We still have three Harleys in the family at out disposable when needed, but the Jeep and camping trailer have been getting more attention.

You got it.
Hope to be at the meet in the middle. Will be bunking with Uncle Mike

I just got back from taking some Harley painted parts to Ohio to my sons body shop. The harness was at my house when I returned home. Thank you again. It actually arrived yesterday.

The beat goes on. Picked up another American Legend trailer this one is a 2002 Sport. Black cherry paint a few scuffs but a super nice little trailer. Brand new galvanized wheels and tires. Needs a set of chrome hubcaps.
-
Picked this up today 2003 Bushtec Roadstar color matched to my 2003 100th anniversary Ultra.

That looks very nice, Jim. I've liked the Roadstar ever since they were introduced.
-
Here it is with the new wheels I acquired. Actually bought a 2001 Turbo +2 in Chicago to get the wheels.
-
Nice looking wheels :2vrolijk_21:
-
Picked this up the other day to have something to do while on staycation. This is after some cleaning, rewiring and new air line through the tongue. Top is before bottom after clean up
-
Nice Jim. Looks pretty well loaded....full carpet interior, garment bag, document pouch, chrome toungue, bra, lid luggage rails, lid spoiler w/LED 3rd brake light, etc. About the only thing missing is the cooler and cooler cover, spare tire and spare tire cover.
The top, left photo shows a bumper on there but the bottom left shows no photo? What year is this one?
Have you opened up a shop yet? ;D
-
JC 1997 I took the bumper off, I have never liked the looks of that particular one. Besides it had a bunch of cheesy flashing lights pop riveted to it. Now if it was painted the body color and had decent lights I would have left it on. Its chrome with surface rust on the inside and a lot of 1/8 holes drilled in it that would need to be welded closed before using. Some may be covered by some new lights. I will hold onto it just in case someone ever needs one. I did get a spare & cover and the hitch pin with it but I will keep them when I sell this one.
Hope all is well with you and yours, stay healthy

You may remember, I've had a few Bushtecs over the years. One of them was a Turbo II that was fully loaded including the cooler and cover (which was really to much weight when loaded and traveling) that came in handy once I got to what ever rally I was headed to for the week. Traveling with a loaded cooler felt like I had an anchor dragging.
-
I remember. Your right when I load a cooler it adds a lot of weight to setup. I rarely use the cooler on my Roadstar. Actually not riding a lot now during the quarantine. Hopefully things will get better soon and we can hit the road.
