If PR at Mother Harley is smart they'll give the owner a new bike and do a commercial about "resurrecting" the bike that survived the tsunami and a solo sail across the Pacific Ocean. It'd be all bupkus of course. But it could still be cool.
Don - Looks like something like this is in the works...........they have found the owner - Ikuo Yokoyama, 29 year old motorbike enthusiast - who lost three family members in the March 11, 2011 tsunami.
"I'm very thankful that it came back," he told public broadcaster NHK. "I would like to thank the man who found my bike in person, but because it's hard to do that, I'd like to thank him here right now."
Harley Davidson is now working through a the local distributor on Vancouver Island (Steve Drane HD) to return the bike, a 2004 Night Train, to Yokoyama, who also lost his house as a result of the tsunami and is living in temporary housing.
Was some talk of restoring here but now looks like the plan is to return the bike to Japan for restoration.
