Took a nice 240 mile ride yesterday through southern WV. It was warm day so I decided to run down to Mountain State HD to get a first hand look at a some new iron including a CVO Road Glide.
The ol Road King looks even better after seeing what they had to offer.
Some time ago, just before MV, I changed baffles in my mufflers from Fulsac 2.0 to 2.25. I liked the sound but felt I lost a little low end torque particularly when doubling. I decided to put the 2.0 back in, but before I did, I cut the very end of each baffle off about 1 1/2 inches. My logic being that it might change the sound having the baffle end while still shrouded by the endcap. It has worked like a charm, the bike sounds a bit meaner or more aggressive, and I got my torque back.
While doing all of this, the rubber grommet that holds the muffler on the left side was found to be loose in the metal loop it fits in. The grommet doesn't really show much wear, but it was loose fitting enough that the muffler could move around a little more than the right side. Some black tape wrapped around the grommet until it fit tight has worked well, until a new grommet comes in. I had noticed a little vibration that is now gone after tightening the muffler connection up.
I've owned this machine since new and after 43,000 miles it rides and runs better than it ever has. I have absolutely no desire to ever get rid of it.
