Sorry to disagree with you Gunny, but the SE-255's are the stock cams in the Screamin Eagle 110 Engine.

My mistake.. Thank you... Was under the presumtion that a CVO cam was a 253, to marry up with the Evo style heads and flat top pistons....

 Gunny,

the 03 - 06 Screaming Eagles had the 103 engine with the 253 cam.   The 07's brought the 110 and the 255 cam.   The only thing that changed over the years of the 03 - 06 was the throttle bodies.

I discussed a 251 cam with my tec and he said it probably a waste of time and suggested the SE 260
The springer has 2 in 1 pipe, breather & PC111 it struggled at 4.8 to 5.4rpm
Now pulls like hell from go to 6.2 and bounces on rev limiter in 1st and 2nd before i get a chance to look at the tac
HP up to 99.9 Tqe down a touch to approx 105 (this will be addressed next service)
Am very happy with the results so far.

se 258 is a very big cam, and needs 10.8 compression to have any torque at low rpm...maybe in a springer or dyna, but I wouldn't put it in a bagger...I wouldn't use anything bigger than se251 in a bagger, and probably would want something a little smaller to maintain rideability below 3000 rpm

HD techs making recommendations on how to build motors! Hmmmm! ::) :o

Buyer beware! I'd trust the experts here before going that route! ;)

I've run both of them and the main difference is the 251 makes power sooner in the rpm band...the 251 has more aggressive ramps and may be a bit noisier...as we are seeing more dyno charts with the '07 and '08 bikes there is a clear trend of 107hp maximim with the stock throttle body, so unless you'e willing to buy an aftermarket throttle body, there's no need to put in a cam with an intake close later than 42* because you're giving up low range torque...and the throttle body quits flowing before you can realize the additional horsepower of the bigger cam

It will make alittle more engine noise than the 255 does, just so you know!!

A little more engine noise!!!!! Plan on getting a new amp and speakers to drown the noise out!!

Very well put and I couldn't agree more. That being said I would bypass the SE TB and go right to the aftermarket.

I pulled by cams and replaced with Woods TW-7H; Dynoed @ 93.1 HP and 108.7 TQ.

Question: My buddy wants to take my old 255's and install them in his '08 96ci Ultra (stage 1). Worth the effort?

I'd be more inclined to use the 203 that comes in the 103 CVO motors- - - plenty of them around

Just my opinion

203's didn't come in the 103's, the 253's came in the 103's.  I believe now they deliver with the 255's.
