Finally Switched to "quiet baffles" from "performance baffles" with my Rinehart True Duals and what a difference!! More area under the torque curve is what I was looking for. 2200 - 4700 rpm over 100 ft/lbs of torque; I feel this is a great torque range for a heavy CVO bagger.

Numbers are lower, but different dyno, different conditions, different operator, and a new tune. He told me that his numbers run about 10% lower than other dynos when he does a comparison which proved out when he did a baseline run on my bike. The numbers were about 10% lower than my previous dyno graph showed. Anyway, here are the two dynos:

Graph # 1 (performance baffles) shows that I didn't hit 100 ft/lbs mark until about 3250 rpm.

Graph # 2 (quiet baffles) shows me hitting 100 ft/lbs mark at about 2200 rpm and staying at 100 or better till 4700 rpm. Tuned by Wayne @ Mile High Harley, Aurora Colorado.

The "seat of your pants dyno" difference is amazing. Now I have to get used to "short shifting".

I want to thank Steve from GMR for his suggestions regarding the baffle change.

Why is it that I never seem to succeed the first time, unless I screwed up?

Screw the numbers.  Look at the shape of that TQ curve and how much earlier it's in.  Much more fun to ride.  Nice gain  :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks Twolanerider,

It is a heck of a lot more fun and pulls hard from right off idle!

Quite baffel gives it more back pressure? Is that the reason for the TQ coming in quickier?

SERK,

Thats part of it plus the SERT/Dyno retune and other exhaust wave theory that is beyond my scope of knowledge ... LOL

Although Rinehart states that they are only about 6 decibels quieter than the standard baffles, I find them to be significantly quieter than the "performance baffles" that I had before the change. I actually like the reduction in sound especially at idle and at highway speeds. However, when you crack the throttle she still "barks".

No thanks necessary to me. Was your work and money making the bike that happy. And that certainly looks like it should be a very happy bike.

Was a dyno needed after switch to quiet baffles? I am having these put in at dealer now.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! The quiet baffles will generally create a richer environment and affect the torque curve. Follow the post from the beginning and you'll see the difference in the torque curve and where the torque begins with the quiet baffles vs. the performance baffles.
