Title: SEEG board still #1
Post by: porthole on August 27, 2013, 10:14:52 AM
Even for an old outdated bike, the SEEG daughter board is still number 1.

Although the Screamin’ Eagle® Ultra Classic® Electra Glide® may have more topics and threads, 56438 Posts, 3037 Topics, it took 8 model years to get there.

The 2 year only SEEG is bang for the buck ahead at 32577 Posts, 1630 Topics

The reason the Street Glide is so popular also as it was the daughter of the SEEG.  Of course the MoCo just copied what many were already doing (stripping down the touring bikes).  Still love my SEEG   :-*  har.  :drink: spyder

And even though I ended up selling my SEEG and buying a SESG.....I have to say that the SEEG is still the best looking model to ever come out of the MoCo in stock form! :2vrolijk_21:  I'm still amazed that they only had a two year run.....they couldn't build them fast enough and while the SEUC were sitting on the floor, the SEEGs were nearly all pre-sold and we had to wait for them.

The 09 SERG came in a close second but nothing else has came close to the SEEG before or since.

The SEEGs are GORGEOUS bikes!

Our SESGs are descended along the path that was forged by them.  :egypt:

I remember there used to be a non-CVO bike called the Electra-Glide Standard... the forerunner of the SG... with no Tour Pak... in 2004 and 2005. The SG came out in 2006, but I don't know the last year of the EG Standard.

Would it be correct to say that the SEEGs were the CVO versions of the Electra-Glide Standard?

A "sleeker, lowered, hot rod" version of a EG Standard would be safe to say (IMO).

Couldn't agree more JC.  As much as I love my Duracell, my Jalapeno is still #1 in my stable.

Well... YEAH!!!  :2vrolijk_21:

So, this may be the stupid question of the day... Did the SEEGs ever come with Tour Paks, and have you simply removed yours, d00d? Or did they not come with TPs, like our later SESGs do not?

I just don't know very much about SEEGs... Sorry!

Ken,

All you have to do is ask round here this place is like Ancestary.com :)    The SEEGS were pretty much the model for the SESG.    The important things to know are 12" shocks, 04 chrome did peel a lot, 05 came with chopped tour packs, and vented lowers as said above and 05's had some issues with valve seals leaking, beyond that Orange/Black = Pumpkin, Cobalt/Black = Huckleberries and Pumpkins are the fastestest of them all.

North Georgia Hawg's question does remind me to ask...

Has anyone found on the update H-D website where the CVO History section is now?

Was easy to find (at the bottom of page) a few weeks ago and now I don't see it.  :nixweiss:

I really love my Banana. I bought it new in May of 2005 and have loved riding it ever since.

My wife and I went to the dealer to buy an Ultra and she picked out the Banana and was trying
to talk me into getting it. (obviously I have the best wife in the world!). Needless to say she did
not have to twist my arm much.

I like everyone else have spent many thousands of dollars on mods which include custom 21"
front wheel and 18" rear, custom front fender painted the way the MoCo should have done it.
Corbin, exhaust, intake, 575 bars, Hog Tunes 6 speaker system and many more accessories.
Lots of extra chrome.

I too have had the dredded lifter issue only 20 miles after it was at the dealer to have the cam
shoes checked.....Coincidence???? I don't think so. Anyway I had them install the Screamin Eagle
update kit. and installed a set of 257 cams. I went with S&S lifters this time.

Bottom line is I love my bike. I keep telling myself (after riding a CVO RG) that my next bike will
be a Road Glide. I guess time will tell.....

The SEEGs also had the most reliable motor to come out of the MoCo.....just a proven workhorse.  Not saying they didn't have any issues....the compensator was one of them.  Just a whole lot less issues trying to get the HP and TQ up to a reasonable number.

It seemed like we could just beat the hell out of those motors and still feel confident and safe doing a cross country ride.  That motor in an 09 and up touring chassis with the ABS brakes would be the ticket.  I mean the CVO 103" not the 103" that they're making today.

I have never owned a CVO 103, JC... but I have read that they were the best Twin Cam engine ever made, and run like a freight train. Not the same as the 103 today... and a lot better than the 110.

My 110 runs solid SO FAR... but it only has 14K miles, and I've replaced a LOT of parts on it with better aftermarket ones, before the OEM parts had time to fail. We'll see about its reliability down the road.

Dave,

"The 2006" now has close to 60k (would have more if I was around), and I love it. After the TTS tune it runs so damn good. Fully loaded, two up, in 95+ heat going up hills in Ojai, no more pinging. No leaks, tight as a drum, I am so pleased with it. And like the SEEG, the "Camel Hump", though not loved by all, only had a two year run.

In fact, I consider the '06 to be a one year run. The last of the 103s, no O2 sensors, and still throttle by cable. I know there were paint issues, but all in all I could not be happier.

Everyone talks about the 103 motor. Other than SE Heads, what are the major differences between the '04-06 engines and the current crop of 103s?

Mark,

There are plenty of wrenches here who know this better than I but here's what I know.  The 103's up to 2006 were bored and stroked Twin Cam (TC) 88's.  The 2007 and later 103's are bored (only) 96's  Thus, what was the difference between the 88 and 96?  The cylinders on a 88 and 96 are the same size.  In the 2007 to make the TC '96, HD moved the crank pin in the flywheels so that the length of the stroke is longer than the 88.  They also moved the wrist pin in the piston upward to accommodate the longer stroke and stop the piston from passing out the top of the cylinder.

I know I'm going to get this all wrong but I'll try anyway.

The original engine was the 88.
The SE 95 is a bored out 88.
The SE 103 is an 88 that is bored to 96, and stroked by moving the crank pin on the flywheel and moving the wrist pin.
The TC 96 is a stroked 88.
The TC 103 is a bored 96.

Is any of that correct?

With all those other colors in the rear view mirror its very hard to tell one from another when they are that far back, guess after the pumpkin you all will have to decide which is the next fastest color.    :huepfenlol2:   :huepfenlol2:

As for the mush that is just the pumpkin chewin and up and spitten em, cause they were in the way.    :huepfenlol2:   :huepfenlol2:

Pumpkins Rule  :pumpkin:

You need to organize a MV trip so you can actually make it.
Would be fun to watch the real hillbillies get their juice on in the hills again.

From a safe distance of course  :drink:

Hi Brad,

There is no need to go buy the toys I have them already been there done that.

I really wish I could get a pass at the end of the quarter, and if i happen to get one it will be last minute, but not holding my breath,  besides they know where to find me.   Someday it might happen, and given enough time it usually does, but someday aint here yet.

Duane,

Let us know the dates and we can figure out what next.   I know Sturgis has been tossed around too for next year for the 75th event.

I got Sachs on the hook for a ride to Maggie Valley if last minute I can get away.

Appreciate it,

-NumbNuts.  LOL
