I haven't seen the New Model Tech Forum information in the past few years that we used to be able to find online on older models, so I haven't seen any details on any of the 2019 changes, including any internal changes to the M8 engines.  One might hope that some member of the site who has access to the 2019 Information would find a way to post it for the rest of us.

Kinda hard to see any internal changes by just looking at them at the dealer.  Perhaps a comparison on the parts micro fiche would reveal if they attempted to address the oil sumping and transfer issues.  anybody got a link to a 19 schematic parts list?

My 2017 CVO limited has been ridden hard for 10k miles by now and with zero issues. Its the best Harley bagger I've owned out of the 9 I've owned. Im sure the 2019's are even better.

I feel bad that I am such a mechanical moron that I cant explain what they explained to me. The service mgr at my dealer that I have got to know well and he has always been straight with me including telling me upfront on the motors they were replacing for me before that he didn't think they would work. He has told me he thinks this design will not sump. At the dealer meeting he got to speak the the actual engineer that designed "the fix" and it made sense to him (obviously not to me).
I have been hoping watching this thread that someone smarter than me which isn't tough would explain it correctly.
I intend when I get my bike to break it in completely by the book and then to let er rip and hope for the best.
on the last 2 motors I couldn't even get past the break in before they sumped so obviously time will tell

Going by Harley's own documentation looking at the parts manuals the only difference from 2018 to 2019 is a new seal added in the cam chest. Oil pump is the same, all the crankcase and other lower end parts of the same, no changes other than the addition of one seal.

And if it does sump, you'll always have the new reliable BMW B to rip those hills on.   :2vrolijk_21:

I saw your post on the other thread and the
"oil deflector" you show I am pretty sure is what he was talking about.. Will see-
