1955 Straight leg Pan/Shovel motored Hard tail. Used a girder style no-brake front end with a lot of rake. My kick start daily driver for 15 years. Built it from basket parts, cause it as the only way I could afford to ride a big twin. Kept it almost 30 years, finally selling it to a friends son. I still have "first dibs" if it ever comes up for resale

Well this is my first Harley, but sad to say, it went bye bye many years ago.

Knowing what I know now, having a stroker 1956 KH would be quite the find today.

Sorry for the very poor quality picture, but I carried this picture in my wallet for close to 30 years; I just recently found it.  I used my Digital Ice software on my Epson flat bed scanner and got it this good, but maybe a few hours of point touchup would get it a bit better, but for now, this is it...

Nope, no pictures either.  My first Harley wasn't even all Harley.  It was a an early 60s to mid 70s franken-bike that was mostly a wrecked FL I resurrected.  Bit of welding here and beating there, probably some glue and chewing gum too.  Never had a title.  Rode it harder than it deserved for a couple years as I remember.  Then it died.

Actually buried it when it did.  Friend's family owned the local "chat pile" with a front loader.  We dug a big hole, had a ceremony and made a heluva night of it.

Still have my '95 Fat Boy.  Bought it new in Germany, rode as far as Denmark and Turkey, twice solo across the States, and covered most of the WW2 battle areas in Lux and Belgium. Think this one is a keeper.

funny story.  :huepfenlol2: My first hd was a 1983 or 1984 sporster xlx. One day i decided to take it for spin to another town. On the way back home i felt a funny sensation down in the fun zone. I skidded to an immediate stop only to find that my unit and adjoining area was totally numb! So there i am rubbing myself  walking around in circles on the side of the highway with everyone driving by looking. Finally i regained feeling ( i was worried ). i rode directly to the hd shop and got a 1984 frs. problem solved!!

I think it depends on which model you have. If my memory still works,  Harley phased the change in over several years.  I know the first year for FI on the fatboy was '01 (FLSTFI vs FLSTF) and I think the last year for the carb option was '02 on that particular model?

I know the 03 Fatboy you could get the carb still.  All my friends gave me crap for buying Fuel Injected, told me you could not modify it.

My 03 FLTSFI is my first new Harley, and I still have it.  I have just over 40K miles on it.  But have had many bikes after it, which have all been traded with more miles on them.

I have more money in this fatboy than I do any CVO..

Oh, I know how that works  :huepfenlol2:  I actually keep a running list of parts and labor for all the work I did and had done to my '01 FLSTFI. I did some math a few years ago --- it seems somehow @ $43,000 has been tossed at the bike - including the original purchase price  :o  It's not going anywhere anytime soon, unless of course that old saying about "there's an a** for every seat" really is true, and that a** has a whole lot of money they want to trade for the bike.

Luckily for me it is still my favorite bike to take for a ride.

1974 FX , new in Dec. 73. Now 96". Modified a Softail primary and 5 speed to get the modern electric starter. The bike has well over 100,000 miles with many rebuilds.
