It's NOT protecting ourselves,it's getting cage drivers to see us and or LOOK for us.

I was referring to helmets not the clown costume

Isn't it funny that EVERYBODY has to fight so hard to keep their little piece of turf?
Where do these negative forces originate?
Our freedoms are all but gone in these United Snakes.
Whatever profession you're in, you have lobbyists, associations you have to belong to, dues to pay- whatever.

The socialist powers that are controlling our lives can't be stopped.  The next election change is not the answer.
-Most folks are too dependent on Big Brother to get true statesmen voted in.

Therefore, I would like to get my bid in to be the supplier for the new "safety vests".  You know they are for your own good.  They need to be DOT certified.  Also we need a curfew to be enforced.  -No reason to be outside your home after
9pm.  Especially on a motorcycle!  (Exceptions if you have a work requirement- along with the necessary permit.)
I'm going to see if this could be covered under O'Bummer Care.  It just makes sense.

It should be MY CHOICE NOT to wear a helmet, NOT STATE LAWS.  A.B.A.T.E. fights for those rights for all of us.

I am good with choice as long as I don't pay the extra cost for none helmeted riders when / if they get hurt.

FL got it right. If you don't want to wear a helmet you don't have to but you will pay for the extra insurance.

Actually, South Dakota got it right.  We got rid of the helmet law.  When you come to the Sturgis Rally, you can ride free.  We repealed our helmet law.
It took a fight with our state, but because of ABATE- we won.
But we -once again- had to fight.

But maybe we SHOULD have an airbag law for motorcycles.  I don't want to pay medical costs for those that don't have airbags.  :drink:
How about a crash bar law?  I have a friend who lost his leg in a crash.  If he would have had a "engine guard" aka crash bar, he may not have lost his leg.
Yeah, that's it- we need a crash bar law!
We have a real shortage of laws.  We need to be protected with more laws.

Yeah Rotary it is impressive kind of like your answer which you have made 2 or 3 times. The discussion is should I have the right to decide if I want to wear a helmet or not? How about I dont drink so I dont want to pay for all the alcohol related accidents or deaths with bikers drinking and riding. Nobody wants to talk about that and I'm sure that everyone that has a beer or two think there is nothing wrong with that other than it being against the law and making my insurance higher. How about this; accident insurance covers the bike and injury to xxx of money if you are wearing a helmet and less medical coverage if you have a wreck without a helmet? Then if you have a wreck and blow a .08 or above insurance doesnt cover your bike or medical bills. Thats what would be fair according to the law. Oh wait a minute in this bleeding heart society with its new Obama healthcare I can get better healthcare if I dont have insurance and I live in another country. Sorry for the rant! By the way I wear a helmet a full face, which is the only helmet that will protect our head but I hate them with a passion! Every time I can legally can I take it off.

this could go on and on :( ca. could just outlaw two wheels as opposed to hemlets.i agree there is enough laws and not enough pure ole common sense. either way we all pay. so many laws hamper and impede our lives and we pay for it. without the laws the unsuspecting and senseless people costs everyone. like i said on and on. :-\

Not sure I understand your question, am I okay with everyone having a choice.

I don't want to pay for the ones to chose not to protect themselves.

But it's properly best for all of us to not bounce our head on the street  :2vrolijk_21:

basically, i was asking if you were okay paying for someone who did bounce their head off the concrete if they were wearing a helmet.  yes, ideally it is best to keep our heads above our shoulders.

Yes I am. (Proper risk mitigation in my book).

who pays the med bills of uninsured and under insured cage drivers with head trauma ? if a helmet on a bike might save you and society some burden, wouldn't a helmet in a car do the same? they say helmets dont impair vision, hearing, fatigue overheating the head, lets try driving cars everyone one day see what happens. wouldnt take much to build in a little more headroom in cars.   give me liberty or give me death.  I'll keep my freedom you keep the change.

Life begins just outside your comfort zone and you havent lived until you push a full dress harley on a hot day up a grade because your low mile twincam fell apart, and your convinced it's to bitchen to leave it there.           Ugh pardon me but do you have any beer?

With our traffic??? We need to be able to lane split here in Cali - it's done safely with an ounce of common sense.  I'd argue safer than not splitting.  Yes there are those that lane split at 80 mph, but Darwin handles that end of the spectrum.  The proposal for the reflector vest is ridiculous.  A$$-clown lawmakers in Sacramento...

Driving a car with a helmet is no problem. I normally do when on the track. Of course I wear a nomex suit to since it really hurts when the car is on fire. (Last time I did Road America we had a couple of small fires but not in my Lotus)

So instead of a bunch of emotions why not take a look at some accident statistics instead  :2vrolijk_21:
