Looking to get back into the CVO game....
« on: May 30, 2011, 11:17:47 PM »

Have not been around in a couple of years, but need some advice.  I had a 2007 CVO B/O jester and got rid of it when the engine problems started showing it's ugly head.  Had four other Harley's since, and have sold them all.  Been bikeless for about a year and am itching to get back in.   I know the engine problems finally got resolved, at least I think, but what else should I look for in these bikes.  This one is for sale locally, and I know the guy that runs this outfit...take a look...

Please catch me up on what I need to be watching out for on these.  I know there was a recall on the wheels.  I have always loved this orange and black paint scheme.

Thanks.

Engine heat!  Ask if it has a catalytic converter instlalled and a Race Tuner, or TTS or similar device used to re-map the FI.  Otherwise, problems are just whatever bad luck brings you.  Not like in '07.

That's a beautiful bike.

SilverDawg, That bike is beautiful, plus it has very low mileage. Seems like a good price. Ask them if they will throw in extended warranty if it doesn't already have it. Good Luck CAHDBIKER

Thanks.  Do these still have the oil leak the 07's had?

I was offered identical bike at similar price brand new off the sales floor August of 2009 at Uke's HD. The problems associated with the 110 scared me off for sure, plus knowing what I would have to spend to fix everything else. Gorgeous bike though, very nice also is the silver version. Wouldn't hurt to call Uke's and see what they have. Ask for Dan Staricka, located right on I-94 Kenosha,WI. 262-857-8537

I ride the same model and have had no issues with engine. The only thing I've had problems with is paint, which have all been looked after under warranty. I've had the outer fairing replaced becasue of paint peeling and the nacelle around the gauges replaced. I've noticed another spot that is now peeling away (housing below the speedo) and will be replaced. The seat would probably need replacing and you can search the threads on the seat recall, but it would have to be on warranty. The rear wheel didn't need to be repalced due to the recall but I had the front tire replaced under recall and the fuel tank bracket recall I think was also done. Other than that, I love my bike! :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

SilverDawg,

I've passed 25K miles and the SERG runs great.  (Did you hear the knocking on wood sound?)  Here are my past problems and some others:

2009 SERG Warranty Claims -- How many??

Nothing terrible but somewhat frustrating.  Good luck!
