valve seal type question?
« on: May 28, 2012, 07:50:43 PM »

Was redoing my head on my 06 seuc.  Was gonna replace my valve seals.  In my james gasket set it only came with one large one piece seal with the seal and bottom piece connected.  My cometic set came with that same big seal but also came with the smaller seal that just presses on the top of the guide.  Which is the better style to be using?

The small seals are for 5/16" valves (yours) the others are for the OEM 06up and sportys with 7mm valves

Ok thanks.  I was wondering why the seal was so much smaller on the bigger one piece ones.  Thought they changed something.  glad my cometic set came with the smaller ones.

You know come to think of it the smaller seal is for the 88" and won't work on the stock guide CVO103, .420 VS .530 guide OD. Go to the dealer and get those black Viton seals 18067-09 for the latest CVO110, 2012, motorcycle, they are a good seal but a little spendy.

I guess in the morning i will look if the cometic seal will fit or not.  If not might have to buy some stuff from the stealer.  So don't want to though.

I went and checked.  You were right.  Its to small diameter to get on the guide.  The big one piece fits fine for it just the seal part is for the smaller valves.
