For illustration; here's the filter.  I keep one in the spare parts drawer.  Though I don't change them on a fixed schedule if I start getting a hint of a filter problem or leaky line I want it at hand.

Thanks Don. I was going to post a pic tomorrow, now I do not have to :2vrolijk_21:

Well, there ya go. I just had the thing apart for the repaint and never even looked at it twice. Took it out and popped it back in without paying much attention to it.

Broke the plastic fuel hose nipple off the fuel pressure regulator mounting manifold (62373-01)-another $10..  At least the local dealer had one in stock-probably not the 1st to break one.

Thanks for the tip on the hair dryer Brad, the window cleaner per the manual didn't work for me.  Hose fits so tight, don't know why clamps are needed.

Thanks 2Lane on the side cuts idea to squeeze the MOCO clamps together to tighten the clamps.

My sock was not dirty at all and the old filter, could easily blow thru.  This at almost 29,000 miles.

Only know about Chrysler products, but figured all the fuel systems were about the same.

The filter in the tank of EFI vehicles was not designed for grabbing particles. The sock - filter etc for the in tank pump was a water strainer. The mesh was small enough that it allowed gasoline to flow through but not water. The cars all had particulate filters post fuel tank. Obviously if an in tank filter could "pass gas" (pun intended) and not water it should catch any other particulates.

We were told in training the post filter was to catch any foreign matter introduced during any type of maintenance or repair to the fuel systems and more importantly to catch any of the non steel fuel line components failing internally (rubber fuel lines)

So - does the HD sock block water and the "filter" filter?

Is there any other tubing that can be used in place of the thin wall plastic tube?
Does anyone know the inside diameter of the end of the tube and the overall length for replacement reference?
