Are you saying all RG's have a tank slap issue? I haven't heard that before.

Wow........well after digging through the site and some reading I'm beginning to rethink a RG as a future purchase.

i wouldnt call it tank slap, its a shake in the bars on decell and it comes in at 40 MPH and is gone at 39 MPH and only happens if your hands are not on the bars, then when it dose happen all i do is touch the bars with one finger for a split second and its just fine. it is a very random occurrence,

My brother in law bought a new KTM 1190 adventure bike (not sure if thats what they call it) last night so i chased him around the mountains (obviously the paved roads) for a couple of hundred miles today. Big fun and was definitely "working" that 120r to try and keep up! That KTM is a hell of a bike

Thanks SBB.
Damn that tank slap is some serious chit!!! Looking like some ball slapping going on there also.
I would be getting my money back if it was my bike. I am thinking it will get worse before it gets better. I for sure would not tolerate that even if it was just a little bit.

i have been thru this on both my RGs (more than once!) and now i have neck bearings over tightened (per the swing test procedure) and it will still  shake when it feels like it, i have noticed that is more likely to shake if tire PSI gose under 40, so keep an eye on that. its kinda like the compensator mystery, some things you just have to learn to live with

Yes I am aware of this.  Had the issue on my 09, and 12.  It was due to using the regular touring bike spec, not the Road glide spec.  Harley made it two different spec in 10 I think.  Thing is, for 13 and older Road Glides have an older method for adjustment.  The 15's have a new method.  I never had an issue with it in 5500 miles on my bike.  Then it was adjusted per the new method and it was violent every time.  Found that they had to put bars to stock position then test and adjust.  Then moved bars back to where they were.  Much better now.

Is this a RG issue? I haven't experienced it on my CVORK, but I also haven't had anything serviced yet.

Seems for the most part only Road Glides.  It could happen on any with the neck bearing adjusted wrong.  The mistake is, all turing bikes use the same spec except the road glide.  When they adjust a rg to the normal spec you get the issue on a RG

Wow........well after digging through the site and some reading I'm beginning to rethink a RG as a future purchase.

with the 13 and earlier road glides it was an issue when the dealer set it up wrong.  Which was common as they would set it to touring bike spec, which is different than Road glide spec.  I would just remind the dealer to set it to road glide spec each service, no issues when they did that.

I am the first 15 I have heard of with the issue.  It was not an issue for the first 5500 miles.  I tried to make it do it when I first got the bike, it would not.  Bike was serviced, and part of the 5K is check the fall a way or neck bearing.  They adjusted and very first ride I noticed the tank slap.

It's an issue with Harleys procedure I believe on the 15.  As come out of the factory, my wife's 15 has not had tank slap, and Joes 15 CVORG has not had tank slap, they have not had 5K service, and they have not moved the bars.

Yesterday we went for a 330 mile ride, as it's was my last full day before I head back off shore to work.  Weather man sure missed on the forecast, as it was suppose to go to 54 and sunny.  It was cloudy and never got above 38.  It was a great ride in the hills of East TN and North GA, great curvy roads.

I'm with you, Dave.  Weather prediction in East TN ain't worth a crap.  Missed the entire weekend by a mile.  If I want an accurate weather forcast now, I just walk outside......

Glad you enjoyed the riding.  We do have some great roads/scenery in our neck of the world.  Be careful and stay safe back on the sea....God speed, brother.

Since the temps here in Central Florida have been in the high 30's and low 40's I got to play with the heated seat and grips. The grips are great with the 6 settings, easy to find a comfy temp. The seat is a whole nother story. It has 2 settings, low and scorched buns! Jeez oh pete! After a few miles of high setting I started looking like a DWI candidate, swerving around trying to keep from having a fire burst up from my drawers if ya know what I mean. Will be staying with the low setting till it gets colder but hoping I won't need it at all.
