Title: Large grips
Post by: Billy on April 16, 2018, 08:31:00 PM
Just wondering if anyone has used larger grips . My fingers hurt from arthritis and would like to know if this has helped anyone. Thanks Billy

As in larger diameter?

If you're considering it look at the grips from SAC.  Largest diameter I've ever used and, I always thought, very comfortable grips.  One caveat though.  They're larger enough OD that some hydraulic clutch levers will lose sufficient travel for full release.

One thing to think about with a hydraulic clutch is that larger diameter grips can limit the travel of the clutch lever, possibly enough to keep the clutch from releasing completely.  So if you decide to try larger grips, I'd suggest first adding a temporary spacer (half the difference in diameter between the old and new grips) on the clutch lever that will touch the grip when pulled.  This will let you test to see if it has a negative affect on clutch release and operation before buying and installing the grips.

Just a thought,

Jerry
