Mississippi River Route
« on: May 18, 2010, 01:42:22 AM »

I am traveling from Arizona down through Texas and Louisiana and then north to Memphis, I want to ride along the Mississippi River as much as possible, does any one have suggestions as to the best route north from the Baton Rouge area? Thanks

From Baton Rouge to Memphis on the east side of the River you're relatively limited to US 61 or Interstate 55.  Have taken US 61 many times on the way to Vicksburg or Baton Rouge.  It's a nice ride.  Would take it over I55 any day.

google the 'Natchez Trace".

Doesn't really follow this river, but it's a better ride.

Also check on the "Ground Zero Blues Club" in Clarksdale, MS (its fairly close to Memphis)
