Looks like it may not rain today.  So I hope to get out and put another 100 miles on the red pepper engine,  I would like to have over 250 miles on it when it gets tuned on Tuesday.  Besides social distancing is easy on a bike.

I've been doing a lot of day rides here in Southern Arizona.

Yesterday I rode to the top of Mt. Lemmon which is 9,100' elevation and only 28 miles from Tucson city limits.  It was 74F when I headed up.....got up to Ski Valley up on top and it was 33F.  Glad I took my Gerbing heatd gear.

Today I rode up to Madera Canyon.  It's only 22 miles from here and only 5,600' elevation but there was snow up there, too.  Interestingly, it was 77F down here today when I left around noon.  It had to be at least 82F-84F up there in that canyon.  All the waterfalls were flowing and the parking lots for both mountains were very crowded (people trying to social distance).

Photos and videos were posted on my fb page.

This social distancing has got me riding more.  Re-discovering some old roads & up until Friday was taking some nice 100 mile lunch rides.

Now will be taking some nice rides but getting take out to bring home & just heading home.  Anyway the weather has been great & all that's going on has given me an incentive to ride more.  Good way to clear the head.

I figured the same thing. I went by myself on a 200 mile ride yesterday. I'm thinking the virus can't catch me at 70 mph.  :'(... I'll probably head out again today. The weather has been great here too...   Stuart

did 350 miles today, weather was perfect and lots of bikes out. My wife gave me these clear plastic gloves that are very thin to use at fill ups which I dutifully took and intended to toss but when I got to the first station and grabbed my wallet they were there so I figured I would give them a shot. So this (like saran wrap) that didnt hamper me at all and I ended up spilling some gas on my hand and after trowing away the glove couldnt even smell gas.
After all this craziness over doubt I will still use them but was kinda nice and used at 2nd and 3rd fillup.
Was great to get away from the news and work where I had to furlough 50 people on Friday..

I did get out yesterday. Great weather and a really nice ride.  I couldn't believe how many bikes were out. At least I see people riding and getting away from the bad news on the TV.. Wishing everyone to stay safe.   Stuart.

We have had lots of rain, pouring again today.  Prior to the rain have done some riding for social distancing.  Today the bike is going up to Moristown area to be dropped of so it can be tuned tomorrow.  Anxious to see and feel the results.  More anxious for the rain to go the heck away.

Just bought my first ever CVO so the list was short....
2012 FLHTCUSE with 16K Miles and 2 previous mature Cajun Owners.  Very well taken care but...

Replaced the OEM Plugs, Cleaned the SE Air Cleaner, Replaced all 3 Holes with the Redline V-Twin Package...20w50 Eng, Shockproof Pepto Bismal in the Tranny, Redline Primary and new K&N Filter.  Redline Fuel Treatment.  Brought Shock Pressure up to 35psi.  Running 40/36 on the skins per the Manual.

400 miles later I have some observations...1.  The SE110 is the noisiest TC I've ever owned.  3 Prior Dynas with an EVO and 2 TC88s never sounded like a Singer Sewing Machine on steroids. The good news is once I swapped out the whatever oil with the Redline 20W50 I could hear the 'Thank You' sounds from the engine.  2.  The new NGK Iridium Plugs made a difference in starting and running.  All good...  3.  A clean Air Filter is a healthy Harley breathing normally.  4.  2 of the guys I ride with swear by the Redline Tranny Shockproof Oil.  I now also swear by this stuff.  Wish I had used it on my prior Dynas.  5.  No ferrous metal on any of the magnetic chip detectors.  Usual amount of chain fuzz on the Primary Plug so grateful nothing appears to be coming apart internally.  6.  The last thing I did was to install the A.I.M. 84mm Variable Pressure Clutch.  Reduced my clutch pull force by about 20% and really improved the engagement oh so smooth...  $300.  7.  Swapped out the stock mini windshield with an OEM 12" Shield from a guy in our group with an Ultra Classic.  So much better and a lot less wind resistance.  Probably going to get a Recurve.

However, having now studied the 'Rocker Locker' noise issue and fix, I've decided to see if I can quiet things down a little more with a switch to the Redline 20W60.  Harley says no problem to help quiet down the SE110 Twin Cam.  NW Florida Summer of 2020?  Definitely 80F or above for the 60W to do its thing.  Good thing I have some hearing loss from 48 years of flying airplanes and helicopters...

This CVO is a first for me in so many ways and I'm really enjoying it.  Cruise Control, Fuel Injection, Rear Air Shocks, Hydraulic Clutch, 6 Speed, Back Rest, Alarm System,  Remote FOB, Factory HP SE Exhaust System, Factory Communications System, Factory Sound System, R&P Cup Holders, etc...

Definitely the heaviest Harley I've ever ridden and yet it handles really well both Solo and with a Pax.

I'm done for now...

JP

Rode 200 miles round trip to visit Branch Heads in Long Beach on my 2015 CVO....No one on the freeways...which made the 405 bearable..
