2012 FLSTSE3 vs whatever is replacing it???
« on: December 14, 2011, 03:13:03 PM »

Well, today I found out my state dealer of choice is having his delivery of my 2012 flstse3 red delayed by about 4 months (next April) so am looking at the possibility it may not be a wise investment to continue to count on that purchase versus waiting a couple months after that to find out what the new and greater 2013 replacement will be for our flagship convertible.  Had set my mind on doing the deed and seemed like I had a pretty good trade made and now this setback.  I know that in April there will be only a few months before it will be a year old and am wondering if I should just wait until I see what amazing options they come up with for 2013 110th anniversary edition?  Will they go to a 2000 c.i. (120) Screaming Eagle Softail Heritage with diamond crested chrome studs on genuine Corinthian hand-stitched leather bags and heated grips/heated dual seats??  Let's hear it...............  (the) Porkster

Only HD knows the answer to that one.  I wouldn't count on a 120 though...it's not a street legal motor in it's current form.

In my opinion, I look at the deltas - I didnt think that there was that much of a delta between the 11 vs the 12; however - there is a possibility of a larger delta between the 11 vs the 13 - waiting and riding the 2011 for a few months to find out about the 2013 is probably a better way to go, in my opinion

there may not be a 2013 Softail convertible.  But I know what you mean.  If there is, I would expect there will be some major differences; if the differences are few, they may have to eat a lot of bikes.  If there is no '13 flstse4, they may have a new model that will turn my fancy.  Like a Heritage!   I have 4 months to stew about it.  Or just purchase a '12 windshield and wait for a '13 something.

I think historically the only CVO that has gone more that 3 years have been Electra Glides.

You seem to like to upgrade alot. Get the 12 and have your fun with it. It might be the last year for  CVO Conv anyhow. You still will have it for the beginning of the season. And, there is always next year.:D

I agree, that is why I bought mine so late in the year. Good deal and who knows what the MoCo will do with this model next year.

I think they'll do a Hertitage Softail for the 110th anniversary.  Just a guess. I don't know if they'll go as wild as Pork is hoping, it'll drive the price up too much.  I'm sticking with my 2010 "124".  Yea, that's right a 124.  I'm doing a little engine work this winter.  I'll post when i get her done.

John, I like the way you think.  I went out in the garage last night and just couldn't resist......I started the beast up.  and listened to it just purr right there on the concrete.  Made me feel real good........For about a grand, I could get all the parts together and make the windshield thing work for me.  Not sure about the gps......I sort of have wanted to have some way to hook up my windshield-mounted compass.  Now I would have a place to put it.  Bolt it right to the new windshield mount.  I know I would be really torqued if I bought a 2012 in April and then July (or even August) found out they were going to sell a 2013 Heritage S.E.  I would not be very nice to live with, I'm afraid.....  Everything these days takes so much money and it comes down to making choices.....do I do this or do that??  If I do this, I know I can't afford to do that, so which is it going to be??  But if I let a year go by, true I wouldn't probably realize but a couple bucks difference in what they would give me for mine and I would be in a better position to get a new bike with the new wifey......whatcha think??   and then I remembered my daughter's S.O. informed me that he was asking for my daughter's hand in marriage Christmas Day morning and wanted to make sure it had my blessing.......!  Dang, don't you just hate it when Logic rears its ugly head????  I'm going to start out the new year with mixed blessings.........      ha!     3 days away, folks.......  Pork.   May be a new Heritage in my future soon........let these couple of posts start the new rumour........

If they do come out with a 13 convertible, I hope they use better paint schemes then in the past. The engineers who deside the colors should be fired.
