I can tell you exactly what the next step is.........

they will probably replace the base gasket again, and after that doesn't work, they will replace the rear cylinder.
and if that doesn't work, you ask for a new motor.... :2vrolijk_21:

if they replace the rear cylinder, insist that they replace the piston rings in that cylinder....if they give you a hassle about that, have them call HD customer service.

I'm going throught almost the exact same thing.  my new motor has been ordered....... :bananarock:

thanks for that info Deuce Bigelow.  had to go out of town on a project but i know now the road I'm most likely going down.  i guess i push for the new motor sooner rather then later as that seems to be the answer.  how many times did you have yours in before they agreed to replace the motor?

After discussing the oil showing up at the base of the rear jug the dealer said  "That's just oil from reassembly, put some miles on it"  After about 400 miles I'm not getting any more oil.  I'll continue to ride and see what happens.  I'm glad I have the extended warranty, just in case

That's what they were hoping mine was.
but it never stopped, just kept weeping.
I would clean it every day at the end of the ride, and the next time I rode it was there again....

not a hard leak, just an oil stain that appeared at the base of the cylinder.

The new motor has a few hundred miles on it and so far no leaks........ my fingers are crossed! :drink:

drive belt rubbing?  that seems to be a mix of rubber and oil splashed all over the primary, swing arm, rear wheel and even splashed up onto the rear fender by the rear indicator, both original tyres were replaced last month with the same make/model tyre

Make sure you get the latest revision gaskets, I think they are " Rev C " (4th time they have changed the design)

Never had the chirping.....

Oh No! Doesn't look good.
How many total miles/KM on the Springer?
Mine was just the rear and other stuff.

Good Luck with your dealer over there and have them get ahold of the factory/ Rep.

Don't let your dealer tell you that is normal.  i had mine tell me that the company considers what is seen in your pictures as 'weeping'.  they also said that even if they would like to do something about they can't without direction from the company  Good Luck

All they said is they had to order the head gaskets and they were SE multi layer. Don't know what that means but I'm out of warranty. So next problem will have to be a motor change.

HMMMMM. I had the upgrade done in Oct also, after about 1200 miles blew head gasket again and dealer was saying valve guide seals leaking again. Baisley says no suspects the rings also. Very interesting as that little german guy used to say on Laugh IN.

thats what the dealer said, how can it be the rings

my only guess would be to much pressure leaking down from the rings.

picked my bike up from the dealer an hour ago, no more leaks during the 6.5km ride home,  lol

they have replaced some leaking orings by the heavy breather air filter, cleaned off the grease from the belt, pulley, rear wheel n fender saying there was far to much smear grease there from the tyre change, cleaned off the seeping oil from both cylinders and tried to tell me it was just excess from the enhancement work but i have ridden 3000km since that was done, anyway i have booked my bike back in 4 its 24000km service in 2weeks time cus on saturday morning i am hitting the road on a 12day european jolly to the super rally 2009
from zurich switzerland to seinajoki finland, riding through gemany, holland, denmark, sweden to finland hoping to get up to Lapland,
then the ride home finland, sweden, denmark, germany, belgium, luxembourg, germany, switzerland.
overall more than 5000km, i will take a note everytime i fill up with gas leaking/not leaking.
