Harley Wireless Headset
« on: August 22, 2017, 11:32:41 PM »

Harley just introduced a wireless headset interface that will adapt to your existing Boom entertainment and headset. Here is the link from their website.

Now they need to adapt this for older bikes.

Is this module  now the best option to go wireless? Will it be fully compatible with Sena and other brands?

"Harley headsets utilize A2Dp protocol with the AptX codec for superior audio quality when compared to typical headsets utilizing Hands Free Protocol connection"

I'm looking to go with a quality wireless headset that can be used with a half helmet or with no helmet.
Thanks

Looks like it still plugs into the tank plug so you will see the cord?

It is hidden inside of the faring. I did see this on Harley website:
" Installation on '14-'15 FLHTKSE models will result in reduced satellite radio reception. "
Not sure why it would only effect that particular bike.

So, for $500 you get the module and the headset, then you throw away the supplied harness and buy another harness for unknown dollars because we all have pre 2018 bikes. Seems stupid to spend that much money to get rid of the coiled wire, no matter how much of a pita it is, but since they already know how much we hate the wire, they know we'll spend it at any price. And it's cheaper than one of those ugly azz 2018's.

The reduced radio reception is because the antenna is stuck in a corner of the fairing and all this gets mounted over the top of the antenna. I have already remounted the antenna for better reception.

Thanks, King Glide. I also remounted my XM antenna. Now I get reception inside of my garage.

I like the idea of a headset, especially wireless.  We bought the HD wired half-helmet sets and they were marginal at best.  Super tinny sound if you wanted music, and the voice talk mike picked up wind way too easy.  My wife's would get activated by the exhaust.  Turning it down was useless, as it still had most of the same issues, especially with the wind, and them you couldn't get it to voice activate.  I guess we could have used PTT, but that seems to be a pain.  Sold them on eBay for a $100 loss.
