Just purchased a nice 2010 Ultra CVO

Well I'm 6'1 and the heated seat on my 2010 sits me too much forward and too high. ( I have put 250 miles on it )
I have been researching seats, Is it true that the stock heated seat is a Hammock seat?
Its a shame that this Hammock seat sits so high. What was Harley thinking?
The seat is comfortable.
Will I get use to the new riding position? I came from a 1998 heritage with a corbin seat.

What seat seems to move a tall rider back and down?
I see the Mustang and Saddleman have seats that will. even a Tall Boy from Harley

Also I was told that the stock seats on the 2011 to 2013 Ultras are much better. maybe buy one of those and send it to these guys for customization. http://www.meancitycycles.com/

I have an 09, it had the hammock seat and I'm 5'7"....hated it!!!!!! I went with a Mustang, it dropped me back down to a more comfortable/safe position.

OakleyFreak, I had a similar issue as you and rleary360 who also has seat issues. Please read my post. What I did on my 09 worked great and saved me a lot of money. Hopefully it will work for you also. CAHDBIKER

I did read the posts, what shop did the rework on the seat?
I know of 2 Meancity and Baldwin
I talked to a guy at Meancity and he told me the best option was to get a 2011 or newer seat. they can modify and add Gel for me
I am concerned that they may not have as many option on the flat Hammock seat
But I may ask him what he thinks, ny buddy has a 2011 Limited, the seats are nite and day different.
My Hammock is more rounded and flat

OakleyFreak, just wondered why they would want you to purchase another seat. When the upholstery shop did mine they contoured it, set it back on the bike, and I went down and sat on it so that I was satisfied before they reattached the leather. We skinnied it up a little more at the front and I was fine. Both feet flat on the ground with tennis shoes. CAHDBIKER

Well it could be my doing.
I dont remember asking Meancity what they could do to my hammock seat.

I got it in my head that I needed to replace it. I was probably referencing the Sundowner seat when I talked to Meancity. that's when he recommended the stock seat from a 2011 and up
But I will call him Monday and ask about modifying the hammock

Ditto... I had the same problem with my 2010...I removed and installed a Heated Hammock from a 2011, different design, not as flat, and its been on since. I have gone through many seats on other bikes, but this one stays on the '10...

So the 2011 is that much different? And was it on a CVO ?

Yes, Totally different. The 2010 was flat seat with no bucket at all. The 2011 was a redesign with a new part number.

I have a CVO '10 and I don't hate my seat but I did have to change out my handlebars.

It makes the center of gravity to high for me
I just installed a 2010 LOW ultra seat , it sat me down like 1 inch lower center of gravity much better. I feel more in control of the bike

Here is a 2011 Seat
It does have a little dip in it
I wish i could try one and see how it sits me

Plus the 2010 is real wide in the front. I need the front close to the tank a little more narrrow
Not sure if the 2011 is narrower

Well Im on the Low seat today
I added my stock backrest and took the wife fro a ride last eve.
She wasnt happy, The driver backrest hits her thighs, Seems that the rear cushion on the low seat is taller then the CVO Hammock
So I need to find a solution.I tried my buddys 2011 driver backrest. it has a longer mount, but it was tooo high on my back
Good note I like the way the bike handles with the LOW seat, better center of gravity, im at least an inch lower in this seat maybe more.
I hope I find a solution to the driver backrest issue.

Yea I have kicked that around, But she is only 5'2, So that could create issues with the crash bars when she moves back
This seat changing is getting complicated

I have a 2012 Ultra seat with the MCC mods Super narrow and memory foam driver and passenger coming. It sits 2 inches lower then stock seat. Im hoping to trade my stock seat and some cash.
I also may be trying the Mustang touring seat.
Im trying to keep costs down by buying used seats, hoping I can resell them as I go
Hope its all worth it in the end. I hate to spend over $500 on a new Hammock seat.
But that may be an option also.

this is the exact route i took, had 6 seats cost over $500 each. I'm down to 3 seats.

1) stock 12 hammock (duel heated)
2) custom 10 hammock (duel heated)
3) stock hammock (no heat)

I would like to buy a duel heated , two up Mustang.

like you said, maybe for xmas

Got the Mustang seat in today.
Nice seat but I'm afraid its going to push me forward

I still have the Mean City seat with the narrow mod coming Friday.
I think that will be the seat I settle with.
But I will ride with the Mustang just to see.

Well Crap

The MCC seat was perfect height
But and there is always a but
We did a 250 mile ride Sunday
My thighs are still sore, seems the seat is too low and narrow for me, probably perfect for someone under 6 foot.

Shame I really like the handling and the feel of the bike with this seat.
But we have a big ride starting Thursday
So looks like the Hammock is going back on.

I need to find a 2011 to 2013 rider Hammock and test it
MMC seat will be for sale soon
Mustang seat already gone.

We did the lake of the Ozarks rally
Put 800 miles over the weekend.
I rode the hammock. It was comfy , and I may be starting to get used to it. (Still seems high)
I have a 2011 Hammock coming this week, curious on the difference.

I have the Mean city Cycle modded seat in the classifieds for sale, if anyone knows someone looking for a lot lower seat.

I have never liked my seat. It feels like I'm sliding forward when I hit the brakes. But I have got used to it after 63,000 miles. I did have some friends order the 2011 seat and they like it much better.

I def like the style and look better
It appears to be a little lower and maybe a little back.
Its still not as low as I would like, but maybe this is the best compromise !
But the ride will tell for sure

I picked up a a new seat from a 2015 Ultra Classic Low. It sits at a good height for me now I just hope it doesn't push me too far forward.
