I feel your pain bro, I broke my back in 79 on a bike in MI.  I did not ride for quite sometime.  However I did not have a group of supporters that you now do.  Continue to visit this site.  Read the tech stuff.  Take it all in man.
I walked away for 15 years.  Now I can only reflect on what I missed.  I am definately making up for lost time.
Your number one priority obviously is your health.  Do everything you can, go above and beyond, seek the best medical team you can.  Get it right.  Go to church, talk to friends.  The wisdom and the support is out there.  Find it and accept it.  God speed my friend.

Welcome to the site. I have found it to be full of usefull information from many resources. I wish you and your wife a speedy recovery. A friend has an 08 also and has trouble with the fly by wire throttle not preforming to standard. Although not happy with the clutch operation he hasn't had an event like yours but I will pass this on. This is exactly the type of stuff that makes this site a value to other riders. Thank you for the post. Look forward to your follow up post.

Thanks again all I am posting a picture so you can know me by face granted it is on my chopper not the SE Ultra but I dont have one of both of us on that.  I guess I should move my stuff out of the new member section at some point but this is where I started this thread.

Let me add my welcome but most importantly, I wish you continued recovery.  Ironically, I was hit by a drunk biker over 20 years ago while walking down the street.  Like you I was sick of the months and months of recovery.  However, as someone noted above, you gotta let mama nature take it's course when healing.  It will eventually work out for you, and you and your wife will be joining us for rides once more.

Welcome to the forum, emcclary. We're glad to have you here.

I am so sorry to hear about the injuries that you and your wife suffered in this incident. I wish you both a full recovery. Hang in there. Healing takes time. I suffered some pretty good injuries in a serious crash 12 years ago. Recovery was tedious and frustrating. It was made all the more so by not being able to ride and participate in many activies the way I had before my crash. Today, I'm fully recovered and riding again. You will be, too. As others have said, seek out the best medical practitioners you can find and then follow their advice religiously.

As for the circumstances that led to the crash, I wish you much luck in determining the cause. I certainly understand your hesitation to climb back aboard the bagger until you know full well that the problem has been corrected.

Again, welcome to the forum. You are in our thoughts and our prayers.

Sorry for your unfortunate accident and wish you the best of luck from my entire family, we to had an accident (ya right) when a 16 year old pulled out in front of me (luckily I was only traveling 50 mph) was down for 6 months so I can feel the prolonged BBBBBBBBBBB.SSSSSSSSSSSSS. your going thru. Please hang in there Brother and remember your going to look back at this sh-t in 6 months and say wheeeeeeew, glad that nightmare is over and then we can all sit down for that cold 1 (or 24) however it pans out. Good luck to both of you, please keep us abreast of the investigation so we can assure this doesnt escalate into anyone elses problem!!!!!

emclary,
heartfelt empathy for you and your BSR certainly not what we would expect to see as a first post. Of course, on the other hand it beats the alternative of being posted about. In recent years I have made extraordinary inroads to better understanding  the power of the universe and positive thinking. May I suggest you google the "Secret" and for $10 you can tune in to the power. You are clearly a powerful man and we are all here to support your recovery. Do let us know what you need and know that there is energy shining on you for quick recovery.

God Speed!
