Is there any new informatiom on tires
« on: September 19, 2011, 09:31:57 PM »

I know all about all the tire threads. I even started one myself. But I'm looking for the lastest info. HD dealer wants $327 to install a rear tire. I can buy front and rear Metzler's for the same price. As time goes buy I'm sure many have replaced their tires by now. I'd be interested in seeing pictures of other than the original tires. Guess I am leaning towards the Metz's. I've gotten 8K out of my rear tire and would use the stocker again but I have my limits on how much I will let HD rip me off.

Pic of the rear tire to show what?  Just interested in the aesthetic of a tread pattern?  Honestly not sure what you're after here.

Honestly can't help you there.  Can also say that's an idea I'd never considered before.  Paying attention to a tire because I think the tread pattern is somehow good looking is, aside from being totally subjective, so irrelevant to a tire's job it just never entered my mind before.

Ya know, once you get the bike rolling down the road you can't see the tread pattern.  Just sayin'.

I'd suggest visiting the various tire company websites to see first if they offer appropriate tires for your bike.  Size, load rating, speed rating, etc..  They usually have photo's of the tread patterns as well, if that's really important to you.  More important to most folks might be things like ride, handling, braking, and tread wear.

Ahhhhh, well maybe red stripe sidewalls.  Not sure I'm ready for the full red tire.  And if we got red tires, then d00d would have to get orange ones, and lord only knows what color Chip might get (silver?, blue?, ?).  And I do not want to even think about green tires on the SESG's.  Talk about sensory overload.

Maybe I'll just stick with black tires and standard tread patterns.  I'm getting to be an old fart, and you know how old farts hate change.

I remember red stripe tires.  Had some on a 67 Camaro.  God it's scary to remember how bad those old tires handled and how hard we drove them when we were too dumb to know better.  Lanes used to have to be wider because nylon or early glass belt tires simply needed that much room....

I did try one of the Orange Tire Lettering Pens the MoCo offers but they were a PITA to use w/the tires mounted. :D :D

Keep in mind that the 18" tires on the CVO's are bias ply, and no other aftermarket tire has as high a load rating.
