Does anybody have a solution for a drivers backrest?
-
There are not a lot of good choices if you keep the original seat. I have one that works for me . In April of 2015 I started a thread on this titled: "Backrest for 2015 solo seat" Sorry I don't know how to create a link to it. I hope this helps .

There's an ad in the Third Party For Sale, "14 street glide parts all HD Stream liner"
In that ad he has a rider back rest. Not sure if it would fit your needs or if it could be modified to work for you. Just thought you might want to take a look.

Contact Seth at Auto Originals he has a driver backrest mod he builds into the seatpan of any seat, when you remove the backrest it looks clean !

I have a drivers backrest it's brand-new only used a few times I'm local to you much cheaper than a new one made by the same people private message me if you're interested

Meh, find the thread. I wasnt a fan of that backrest, it flexed way too much and didnt offer any support for me. I had to pay for the shipping as well. I would keep looking.

Nice, I will call!! Thanks!

I know what you mean...HD should design backrests for their seats (Touring bikes for sure)
I punted and bought a corbin seat and added the backrest.
At least its an option, but for $$$$ .... if you put the miles on...well worth it.

I bought the one from CVO and it works fine for me.
-
I like this option so far. Yes, it gives you the seat too, but it's a clean install where the backrest is hidden in the seatback if you ride as a solo.

Not a fan of all the bracketry showing, I think as far as a whole seat replacement C&C makes the cleanest solo with rider backrest...

I know what you mean. I don't either but I don't see anything else within reason under that $450 mark that actually makes a good seat/backrest combo and is internal in the seat.
Anyone can chime in if they have a good alternative.

So I bought this...

Well, that sucked.... Mustang seats said it would be slightly lower, which is great but this seat actually raised me up 3/4" if not more. Guess they didn't factor a CVO seat is lower than a regular SG. Sent it back already. And by the way, dealing with Jan over at Mustang (Supervisor) was useless. She had no interest in showing me any love. And the new seat choice, #79910 which looks like the better choice is $200 more. No thanks!

So what other options are out there. I am starting to like the one from CVOBackrest.com but I see many different shaped backrests on his and don't know which one it ships out with... Help? :-\
-
You can order it without the pad and order the CVO pad from HD so it matches the seat.
-
Yes, I spoke to George about it this evening. Really nice guy too. If I go this route I would buy the CVO backrest for his part and cut a shot in the rear flap of the seat to hide most of the hardware. Surdyke has the backrest pad for $104 and the hardware is $159 including shipping from George.

So I went a different direction and order the backrest from Bitchn Stitchn. Will be here Thursday. I like that it's all leather and contoured to your back. Just seems very well made for $199.00. Saw some pics of it on a bike exactly like mine too. Hope I like it. Dan at Bitchn Stitchn was totally cool on the phone also!

So this is my new backrest from Bitchn Stitchn.

I think if I bring the seat and backrest to my leather tailor, she may be able to open up the two seams where the metal hardware sits on the seat and pass it through the opened seam to hide it all.
Thoughts?
-
Do you have a web address for where you got that back rest? I have not been able to find it using Bitchn Stitchn. Thanks

Call and speak to Dan. 303.238.5404
Nice guy. It cost $199 + $13 shipping.
Back rest is made well and it's ALL leather. It's not perfect but nothing I've seen really is.

I like it better with the matching pad, my OCD knows no bounds :huepfenjump3:

Yours is a different brand.

C&C Makes such a great quality seat. The Finished look of the backrest was another reason to choose them.

Does the C&C seat keep the same height and width as the CVO seat? I'm on the short side so wouldn't want to go this route if it raises the seat height any. Thanks

Pay $150 or so for a back rest that doenst work or $450 for a new seat with a built in back rest, those are the only 2 choices and I will probably go with the second.
