Back on track. Main man's back and things are starting to move in the right direction.

Since I already thermal coated the D&D header pipe, I went the rest of the way. I'm coating the pistons and heads too.

I located a company named Calico Coating in Denver, N. C. Talked with them at lenght on what I wanted done. Very friendly and knowledgable. They promised a quick turn around of 3 or 4 days from receiving the pistons. They were also $10.00 cheaper a piston than others I check with. I had them put on a Thermal coating on the piston tops, a dry film lubricant coating on the skirts and an oil shedding coat underneath.

This is the JE 4.135 piston as supplied by Axtel

The heads have already been to Susan for diamond cutting to match the job she did on my cylinders. She did them in a day and sent them to Calico Coating for me. She called me when they got there as well as when they were done and shipped knowing I was trying to get this build together. She does great work and is reasonable.

The combustion chamber, valves and exhaust port are being thermal coated and should be shipped Tue/Wed.

In the mean time the cylinders are being fitted to the pistons and will be installed at the beginning of the week. When the heads get there, they will be bolted on, a break in tune installed and we see where we are at.

Picked up Lexi (08 SERK) today. Rode her home (160 miles) while a friend trailered my 84 FXR home also. So all the kids are back in the garage. I'm having to baby her right now but I'll get the miles on for the dyno quick.

Initial impressions:

D&D Fat Cat with Big Boar Quiet baffles: not as loud as my old Rinehart T. D. but not quite as nice a sound. Close tho. I like not having the cross over pipe on the left side to worry about with my stubby legs. The ceramic coating works as I felt no heat from the pipe at all. Of course it was 63 degress today.  ;D

The T-Man 590 cam comes on quick. I can't get on her yet but you can feel the cam is right there. A little louder than the Cycle Rama 595 but she may quiet down some as the parts wear in.

The Diamond Cut heads came out great.

I'll have more later. Taz enjoyed his ride too.

Thanks Howie. Can't wait to see what she's got. Regardless, I'll do like last year...it's riding time. No more laying aroung in the shop. Taz was getting tired of sitting in the garage!

You hear anymore on your SERG? I test rode on yesterday. What a nice platform to cruise on. Just not ready to grow up with a fairing yet. And OMG that is a lot of orange. She's a beauty.

Thanks Chip. It did not take much to love the D&D sound. Reminds me of being at a NASCAR race. Low and mellow! Now to eliminate some of the noise and I'm set. It's already quieting down in just 160 miles.
