I don’t no for sure, buts it’s completely different, so I would say not without a lot of fab work. Why not just build your twin cam?

While the motor is completely different a 16 Street glide frame is no different than a 17 or 18 street glide frame.  The last touring bike frame change was 2009.

So it may well work with different motor mounts.

Actually there is a small visible difference in the frames at the bottom front, but I don't believe it would affect mounting the engine.  It might affect mounting the cooling system however.

Just looking at the parts drawings and comparing the 2016 FLHXSE to the 2017/18 version, the only obvious difference in mounts and links involve how the mounts are attached to the engine, and how the stabilizer link is attached to the head.  On the TC there is a separate part that bolts to the bottom front of the cases for the mounts.  On the M-8 the cases were changed so the mounts attach directly without the extra part.  As for the stabilizer link, the link itself is the same part number, the only difference is in the brackets that attach to the heads.

There may be other less obvious changes, such as the durometer of the mounts to suit the different vibration levels for instance.  One thing that needs to be researched is how the heads and rocker covers fit to the frame backbone.  I can't tell if that area of the frame was changed (haven't seen any details for the 2017/18 changes like we used to see from Harley every model year in the past).

Take all of this with a big grain of salt, and don't order an M-8 for your bike based on my analysis.  All I'm really saying is that assuming the frame backbone stayed the same, it should be possible to mount the engine to the frame.  There may be other hidden reasons why you can't easily do it.

Transmission cases are different from TC to M8 also.
Anything can be done- given enough time, effort, and money.

Could you just swap a subframe from a 17 or 18 and bolt it to a 16 frame? Find a donor bike perhaps.

i was just curious if it could be done. i was under the same assumption that the frames are the same. if thats the case then minimal modifying may be done to update to a newer bike without paying the hefty price. i was thinking of getting a wrecked bike with a milwaukee 8 motor. i love my 16 cvo and dont like any of the newer bikes. i already built my 110 to a 124 and am very happy, just curious for the future.

It has taken years for HD to finally get the TC motors right. They are now going through the same to get the M8 right. Why would you want to suffer through that again? Wait for the bugs to be worked out of the new motors. As for myself I have a 98 Road King with a S&S V124 LC touring Motor with a 585 cam that runs very well and doesn't over heat and no problems.
