Title: AIR PUMP FOR SHOCKS
Post by: TDW on July 14, 2008, 05:07:22 PM
Any recommendations on what pmp to get to adjust
shocks on 2008 110 Road King? I thought i seen a
posting here before. It really rides hard with two
people, Hoping adjusting shocks will help. Thanks

I have that pump and it works well.  I think there are others for a few dollars less.  I bought mine during one of the Christmas promotions so buying HD was important over an aftermarket.  It is very good quality though.

I like that you can screw the hose on and nothing leaks out.  I've heard some of the aftermarket pumps will lose just a bit of air during the on/off process.

Good luck.

BUT..... Whatever you do, don't use your air compressor.  The volume of the shocks and lines is so little that just a touch could blow a line fitting.

Sorry, I had to add that last comment.

If you look in your owners manual, there is a chart on how much air you should run if you are solo, two up, and or have luggage. My experience is that the chart is a little on the hard side. I run a little less than what the book recomends. Ideally though getting rid of the stockers and replacing them with a set of progressive's or bub's would be best. Just as soon as i find a bank that has money in it or hasn't gone belly up, I'm going to get me a set.   :orange:

Progressive says their pump won't work with the '08 SERK because it mounts in the space occupied by the ABS.

What we're talking about is a hand pump for putting air into the stock air shocks. The pump Progressive is talking about is their compressor for their ride-leveling shocks.
