Our new head lamps can only be adjusted up and down. Has anyone done and an adjustment yet? Below are the instructions which do not specify which way is up and which way is down. If I turn the bolt in / clockwise, does the beam go up or down? Just trying to save myself some time.
-
Ok, as you look up at the bolt, counterclockwise raises the headlight beam.
-
Take it yours was delivered with the head light aimed low. Mine was but had the dealer adjust it. My wife's road glide special was also delivered aimed low, had dealer adjust it up also.
-
Great info, and just in time as I have to adjust my headlight up too. Strange there is no left/right adjustment.
-
Mine was the same. I was a tad surprised on my first night ride that lining them up correctly didn't happen with dealer prep. I imagine its a legal requirement to have your lights correctly adjusted for registration. No biggie as it is a fairly simple adjustment. Looking forward to seeing the improvement and more of the road!
Cheers Tom

I don't know if mine was set "correctly" or not from the factory. I just know where I like mine to be and I try to maximize the light. I did not use the technique specified in the manual. I just knew mine was a bit low so I raised it one half turn. It's better now, at least for me.

And that is all that matters Greg :2vrolijk_21:

stands to reason that if you adjusted the left and right adjustment screws a different amount, that it would move the headlights left/right as well. at least that's what it says in my manual (2013).
my manual looked just like the screenshot posted above, but i went a little further and found this info.....

The 13 and earlier have two hex in the inner fairing down low, for adjusting. I have adjusted several pre 15 Road glides, and from what I can see my 15 does not adjust like my 12 or 09 did, which is why I let the dealer do it as I do not have a 15 manual yet. Need one

The '15 Touring Service Manual is out, P#99483-15. The CVO supplement for our bikes is not out yet, however.

You sure about that?

If you need me to look up anything, give me a shout. :2vrolijk_21:
They even gave it a BLUE cover ;D

That's what I get for relying on what the parts counter told me!
Thanks! :2vrolijk_21:

I have a 16 RGU and tried adjusting the headlights last night. I too felt they are too low. I turned the adjusting screw several turns ( over a dozen) and it doesn't appear as if any changes are taking place. How many turns does it take to see a change
-
As I recall from doing mine last year it didn't seem to move after about a dozen turns. Then after about another half dozen I saw movement on the aim point and got it up higher where I wanted it. High enough that I see further down the road yet only now and again does someone flash me thinking I am running highbeams.

Thank you. I was worried it might be hanging up on the outer fairing. I will be patient and go back and try it again after work. From what I understand the adjustment is very similar to a worm gear type mechanism. That being the case is there stops on both ends of the adjustment?
