Title: Road Glide Exhaust
Post by: DC HARLEY on April 26, 2016, 02:18:54 PM
I bought a 2016 Road Glide CVO (sweet bike !!!) The dealer suggested I change the exhaust for performance reasons. The bike had the Screaming Eagle 4" CVO exhaust with a Catalytic Converter. I put on the Vance & Hines Power Duals Headers with their Monster Rounds mufflers and had it Dyno tuned. I love the performance but it is louder and makes my ears ring after a long ride. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !!!

Welcome to the site from The Lowcountry of South Carolina. Ya might want to check with Fullsac Performance ( Steve ) to see if he has Baffles that can quiet your pipes some. Otherwise ya might try a good pair of earplugs.

Or Kuryakyn Crusher Mellows. These mufflers are very quiet until you throttle hard and perform excellent with your V&H head pipe.

Crusher Mellow or if you liked the look of the stock CVO muffers give Steve a call at Fullsac a call and look at his replacement baffles that go in the stock cans. Also welcome to the forum

I went with the same exhaust system you did.  I thought those were too loud for me. . Most of my riding is at speeds that I am doing about 3000 rpm.  I tried the kury crusher mellows and the same thing.  I came home from Leesburg this Sunday any my head was pounding.  And ears ringing.  My cvosg 3 was fine with that system. . Long story short..  I put  the stock mufflers on last night. .  Went for a ride.  And was very happy.  I think I'll stay with these for now. . Stuart

Stuart, Did you change the head pipes back as well or just the mufflers? Thank you, David

I bought the Vance and Hines power duals with the monster rounds. . Sounded OK at the tent at bike week. . On the highway.. I hated it above. 3000 rpm. . I still have the power duals head pipe.  That works very well and I have the fuel pack 3.  I redid the map before I rode it with the stock mufflers back on.  I'm finally happy. .  The stock mufflers are a little louder it seems with that head pipe. .  Stuart.

Thought I would throw this out there. . . I have an almost brand new pair I kury crusher mellows. . I'll take 400 plus shipping. .  They have the trident end caps. .  Only 400 miles on them. . . Stuart.

Stuart, I went back to stock on the Head Pipes and Exhaust. Had it tuned afterwards. Thank you for the suggestion. It runs at about 84dB now. Vance and Hines Monster rounds were around 95 dB. I lost some of the high end torque I had gained from the Vance and Hines exhaust but I got the low end torque back, which I missed. I am also able to ride all daylong without my ears ringing. Amazing how much reduction in noise there is from the catalyst. Thank you for all your help. David

I love my Boarzilla's (though Stuart hates them..) and D&D's are usually included in most guys that know much more than me on their top performers list

Hello
First time on here.  I have 16’ CVO Road Glide with the D&D 2-1 with FP3. I’m looking at changing the air cleaner away from stock to close it up a little bit. I’ve had problems in the past with getting water in it from rain storms and causing problems.  I don’t want to choke it down on performance either. I have been looking at Ciro Cipher and was wondering if anyone had any pros and cons on changing away from stock and interfer with performance.

Thanks

Had never heard of that one so had to go find it online.  Looks like a Cylon.  Sorry, don't know squat (other than that it looks like a Cylon).
