Title: 2018 CVO Roadglide "UGLY"
Post by: bigmegina on August 25, 2017, 06:17:29 PM
I do not know how designs harley CVO dressers, but they should be fired.the  2018 CVO roadglide looks like something that should be on a Victory Showroom floor.they put a 21 inch wheel on the front, didn"t anybody tell them the "BIG FRONT WHEEL"fad is over.the paint colors and are hideous.no front lowers or cooled heads on the roadglide to make it look cooler?and to add insult to injury raise the price almost 4K before tax?so now in my state the bike will be almost $44 thousand dollars.who do they expect to sell them to,Milenials?not a shot, they will not pay $44k nor can they afford to pay that much.their market is older white men like me and sorry to say they like shiney paint and flash for that kind of money.if you parked that $44k bike in a row of Harleys you would walk right by it and not notice it.i wanted a CVO roadglide custom because I had a awesome 2009 CVO roadglide custom and a 2012 Cvo roadglide custom.looks like I will be keeping my bike for now.

I'm a millennial and I can afford it.  Still wouldn't touch it, definitely ugly.  You're spot on though, for the price, most millennials can't afford it and those that can afford it will just pay $50k and get a full custom, big wheel, air ride, super stretched bags.

Looks like I'll be keeping my 2010 and upgrade some components. No need to spend that much money for two wheels. Unreliable on top.

Good point. Price is within reach of a nice custom.

Good point. The new 18 Yamaha Venture is a much better buy.

I agree if what Yamaha just put out is of what to come from Japan, HD has a lot to overcome. I have owned HD for decades, can't justify to spend my hard earned money on dinosaur technology.

They can't get a Grey 18 to me fast enough. I'll find out tomorrow how long I'll be waiting. As I said elsewhere on the site I'm the minority around here as I like all of the RG colors this year. I'm elated that they don't come with those goofy lowers or liquid assist anything. Perfect bike for me. I can't wait to start building a new hot rod using an 18 CVO. 21" big wheel, LMAO, baby wheel.....

:2vrolijk_21: Agreed. While the price is steep it is less than what the hot rod crowd dumps into a bike. If my dealer can't get me one in a reasonable amount of time I'll be searching for one of these ugly bikes anywhere I can score one, road trip.....

Grey is the first one my local dealer will get.  Should be the end of this month.

I am first in line for a SERG at the dealer.  I will see what I think of it in person, in the sun.  If it doesn't do it for me, it will be the dark earth and vivid black

Currently , I have a 2016 CVO Street Glide, but am looking to move into a 2018 CVO Road Glide. I went over to a dealership yesterday to inquire about one and the first thing the dealer said is that he already had 5 people lined up to buy one and tried to sell me a regular Road Glide and that he probably couldn't get a CVO for me , then in the next breathe told me that no one had even put down a deposit yet. I think some of these dealers are still living in 2003, and think we need them more than they need customers. They need to open up a Wall Street Journal and see that the MoCo is losing market share and stock valuation. I figure that customers willing to spend over 40 grand on a bike aren't walking through the door everyday. So after that 5 minute encounter I'm ready to say f$%* em and just keep what I have for as long as I can.

I agree. That is a very small market. I'm sure area will make a difference also.

I try not to criticize what someone rides in a bike or a spouse because I'm sure someone is in love with them somewhere.  :huepfenlol2:

As my late mother-in-law used to say "That's why they make chocolate and vanilla."

Funny you mention the dinosaur technology. Was just in a metric dealer the other day and he won't stock a new Venture because it went from a water cooled bike to an air cooled vtwin. Lol

Well if Yamaha made that change it was to please the American Twin Crowd. I don't suspect a bad quality change from Yamaha. Their bikes tend to be highly reliable bikes. Only time will tell.

Good philosophy.  To each their own.

And some vanilla ice cream comes in fancy packaging, and some is generic packaging, and some is just plain weird, but somebody somewhere will buy it usually.

And guess what else you get for 41k....................You cannot put lowers on the cvo rg!!!
They will not fit with the knockout wheels............not even if you change the engine guard.
Are you f@#$%#$# kidding me???---------I was all set to buy one till  I got to studying putting the lowers on( I wont ride one with out them).
Oh well , I have been waiting for a year to see if the MOCO would make a M8 in a CVO RG and now that they have I am really disappointed ------------Unless I can come up with a fix for this Im out! So far if you look in the catalog it says the lowers will NOT fit with the knockout wheels. Cant really understand why-------on my 12rg there is plenty of room when turning the handlebars between the back of the fender and the lowers---can it be that the fender hits the lowers on a 21" wheel??? I doubt it. If someone on here sees that I am misinterpreting something let me know but right now thats the way I understand it.

9/1/2017

Update on the "no Lowers on RG"
I spoke with my dealer , who called the MOCO about this. They confirmed that they had had many calls concerning the issue. The description of fairing lowers in the P&A catalog says they will not fit with knockout wheels (knockout wheels come stock on 2018 SERG).
Also if you look in the catalog at Knockout wheels , the description say "will not work with fairing lowers". This specifically means the 21"front --------The motor company intimated  to my dealer they were concerned about handling problems with the 21'front wheel and lower fairings.
MY opinion---I don't think the fender(with 21"wheel and different fender as comes on the SERG) will hit the fairing lowers when you turn the handlbars if lowers were installed , there seems to be lots of room there on my 2012----I think the normal engine guard and lower fairings will bolt right on the RG as normal , but apparently the MOCO feels that the bike is unstable at speeds or under certain conditions. They didn't actually say this in so many words to my dealer but this is what he read between the lines-------------Any one have any input as to your thoughts on this ???They also said there might be something in the works to remedy this down the line sometime------------go figure!!!!

Anyway , I know its not an issue for lots of you , maybe most of you , but it is to me. I have always run lowers on touring bikes and always will-----------not so much for the wind , but if you ride in the rain its a really big deal. I do respect those who feel differently , again----------Chocolate and Vanilla!

the SG got the 21 front wheel or not  :nixweiss: cause it has lowers...the RG dose have a new crash bar that wont accommodate the lowers, thinking you change the CB you can add lowers
Title: Re: 2018 CVO Roadglide "UGLY"
Post by: jcd520 on August 26, 2017, 05:27:20 PM
The SG does NOT have the 21 knockout wheel on the front----------the RG does in fact knockouts on both ends. Nevertheless , the catalog says that lower fairings will NOT work with knockout wheels (as on the CVO RG)

Looked through the new lineup this past weekend. Sad to see my Dynas go away.   :(   Not impressed with all the 'bobbed" fenders on the cruisers. None of the CVO paints impress me at all. The CVO RG gray looks like a Scion grey.  Something MAACO would come up with. Then to black out 1/2 the CVO's????     I think they're on crack!

I saw and road the CVO Roadglide orange/gray at Barbs this past weekend. Demo truck was there. Gorgeous bike. I wasn't into roadglide, I have 2014 streetglide special. Man, I fell in love with this bike. But, I agree with you guys, way too much. I'd rather buy it used 1 year or 2 down the road.

I feel the bike needs the black motor and pipes.

It would be the one for me with black motor and pipes for sure!
