Has anyone been able to note a discernable difference in spark plug brands or types for the 103 motors? Stock except Rinehart exhaust, Stage 1 and Power Commander.

Down here in Florida we switched my bike over to the VRod Spark plug which was 1 cooler than Harley recommended and it seems to run great with this plug.

I just ran a set of the HD splitfires for 2200 miles and they fouled ( to the piont of missing ) faster than the stock set of 6R12's, like 5000 miles faster....now rember I have a front cylinder problem that is fouling my front plug but the mech said to throw the HD splitfires in the round file and run the 6R12. he said the 103's love em .

All of the guys at my dealership said the OEM 6R12's are the way to go as well. One guy came from another dealership that said on their dyno test, the 6R12's showed an improvement over the others. I'll have to think on that a while. Anyway, I used the splitfires in my 95 FatBoy and it would sometimes backfire when starting. Not with the OEM's. BTW, the dealer also said to use the 6R12G's for easier removal from the head.

wait till 1 edge of those splitfires breaks off and goes into the piston/head - makes a h-- of a very recreational sound as your engine takes a crap. experience with 7 bikers to date that have abandoned these plugs, that have had these break. just the flip side of the coin

I've used both the 6R12G's and the platinum (32364-04 is the latest version) plugs in TC88's, and had good performance from both of them.

GRC - I have always index'd plugs - just ole nature I guess - as far as sensing any possible chagne - NO - but for what the proceedure is - and also the physics of it all - it probably makes a difference in minut stages - add it all up and it probably does. How vague it that [smiley=nixweiss.gif] - gotta have something to do while having a MGD and changing plugs/changing oil etc.

I have been indexing plugs since my racin' days, and true it may not help much but every little bit helps, and since I switched to Champions (RA8HC) and fileing the tips back, I have had Zero problems in the 95" .......and with the price at $1.25 each, I can afford to change them every 15 K......those HD plugs are made by Champion anyway, just cost more with HD logo on them.

I have never fouled a plug in the TC 95" and it now has 60K on it.
I do believe it's Miller Time [smiley=beerchug.gif]

If you call the motor company (I did) they will tell you to run the stock plug in the motor of the SERK and I suspect it to be the same with the rest of the 103's. I wondered why I was having so many problems with platinum plugs and why stock would run better. So, I took out the trusty multimeter and measured the resistance on the platinum plugs. I had 3 sets and could not find two plugs within 200K ohms of each other. LeRoy, on the subject of fouling the front plug my dealer just fixed the same problem on my SERK. It was a new head but the mechanic said the intake valve seal was leaking and allowing oil to be drawn into the front cylinder thus I had oil fouling on the front plug. You might have your dealer do a leak down and compression test, if those are good it could be the same problem I had. In additon they changed the plastic breathers out for the old style metal ones. Problem solved!

My 05 came with Metal Breathers in them already and not the plastic ones. Its only 20.00 dollars for the new pair of them if you have the plastic ones.

I have an 04 se 103 with a stage on down load, pcusb, k&n high flow and rinehart true duals. dyno,s at 95 hp, and 103ft/lbs. seems a little low. any suggestions would be appreciated. Also running se split fire plugs.

Welcome to the site, there's a lot of good info and people here. As far as you #'s I think they are about average with what others here with similiar setups as yours have seen.

Welcome. Try this thread http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=eg_gen;action=display;num=1072508181 Many of the early charts were lost, but if you wade through this thread you can get an idea of what others are getting with similar mods. First question would be, did you load a standard map in the pc, or have it custom mapped on a dyno? It seems that those who have had a good tuner set up their pc's on a dyno have pulled slightly higher max numbers, but what you are getting is good for a standard map.
