Here's a photo underneath the board. The spacers are chrome and simply extend the length of the board mounts. Unless you are bent down and focusing your attention on looking for these, I doubt that you would ever notice it's not all one mount bracket. One thing I will mention however is that even though this is just 4 total bolts out and 4 total bolts back in, the front bolt on each side can be a real pain. The oil cooler is in the way of anything but a partial turn of the bolt and the bolt head being on the inner side of the frame, you can't really see what you are doing and it's a lot of fidgeting to get the wrench in the hole for each little turn. Another thing that I learned was that these bolts are very difficult to break loose and you don't have room to put a pipe on the end of your allen wrench or anything like that. What I did was set the allen wrench in the bold head aiming downward and at a slight angle toward me. Then I used my foot push on the allen wrench to break these free. Once I figured that out, I broke all 4 bolts free in seconds.
Looks good! 1" seems like a big spacer but I noticed the same thing you described about my feet hanging on the edge of the board.
Is there a nut on the backside of the frame or do the bolts just thread into the frame?
Thanks for the post
guppy
It is hex head cap screws thru clearance holes in the frame...
09's are different.
:2vrolijk_21:
Nice writeup for the 09's. It's amazing that moving the boards out 1" is much more natural feeling on the bike.
Anyone with an 08 or older with the older frame. To get the allen bolts out, I cut about 1" off a 3/8" allen wrench and then used a 3/8" gearwrench to remove the allen bolts.
hehehehe.........fought that battle before, have ya, Bob? It's definitely an expletive session. I'm looking forward to doing it again........on two bikes.

Just ordered mine!
:2vrolijk_21:
Here I am quoting myself.
Ordered these extensions on Sunday, got home today (Wednesday) and they were in the mail box.
Everything I do takes twice as long as a real mechanic.
Started at 7:00pm done at 7:30pm. Easy as pie.
A great product, was exactly as picture and promised.
Set out the floorboards an inch.
MikeR, your going to need these with that D&D.
Before extensions I couldn't get a sheet of paper between the floorboard and the pipe.
Now, plenty of room.
See below picture!

Very Nice, Chip. I will venture to say it will take me quite a bit longer to get mine installed on the FLHR, since the hex bolts are inboard behind wiring, but it'll get done. hope they get here soon. Thump ought to be easy, since the engine is out of the frame.
Also Henry I had the luxury of the fact that the bike was only two months old and the bolts were easily removed.
After a few years I would imagine they are much harder to remove!
:2vrolijk_21:
Here's a picture of the kit that just went on the FLHR.
Started by pulling out the die grinder and fashioning this tool to get the 3/8" hex bolts out.
.
All I can say is get "er" done!
At least on the FLHR.
Wasn't there some advice about spraying something on the bolt to shrink it enough to loosen it?
:nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:
A short straight piece of hex stock and one of these fancy gear wrenches from Craftsman works best! Only have to get that hex into the capscrew once! :2vrolijk_21:
Now Henry, I assume you have also cleaned and waxed all those areas that were difficult to reach while the floor boards were on?
You have set a high standard, , , don't let me down!
;)
I have the stock, Scott.......and the wrenches, but didn't want to risk breaking a wrench while trying to break torque. You know how tight those things are. Much easier to sacrifice a hex tool, since I have a bunch of 'em.
Looks good Henry!
I wish everything we did to these bikes was this simple!
:2vrolijk_21:
Yep, I do the same Henry. Use the modified allen wrench to break them loose, then use the allen stub and gear wrench to turn them out! :2vrolijk_21:
How do these extensions differ from Kuryakyn's?? Any ideas?? :nixweiss:
Ever notice how d00d just pokes his head in whatever thread is receiving activity.............just to make sure no one is smoking crack in here on his watch........then pops right back out? That's efficiency. ::)
The d00d never sleeps. He is an automaton. Keeper of the standard. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
I want his bike..........heck it never gets ridden, since he's always sittin' in front of his 'puter playin' blog police..........and it can be painted a decent color. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
Wouldn't know, Howie. I run from Kuryakyn Korean Krap. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:Are the ones you just installed manufactured domestically??
Only thing is, Scott, I plum forgot I have the good stuff. Once I broke torque.......I used my fingers. Now how stupid was that? :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
OK Henry, stop!Errrr... Ummm lets see some pictures of the three sets you bought installed??
Think it through.
His bike is as real as he is.
It's a virtual pumkin!
That can be the only reason there are no chrome hinges on it.
Real chrome hinges don't fit on a virtual bike.

Well Scott........I must be odd man out. I have eight fingers...................and two opposable thumbs. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
I don't!
(checking d00d's speed tonight)
Oh chit! There is a severe suckivity factor involved with that......................WTF and WhenTF did that happen? My God, Man! :(
July 4th, 2008! It involved our cabin, a boat and the elderly neighbor lady who went for a boat ride! Timing of my dive and her fall was all askew!
Nothing big - life goes on! :2vrolijk_21:
I think it is great, Scott, that you are fortunate enough to be able to say that. Your attitude in the face of adversity is inspiring. I'm not sure what I'd do..........except be looking for some other form of employment. :(
Best to you, my friend. :2vrolijk_21:
employment? you lost me??? ???
Well, I can't do my job without fully operational and completely intact meat hooks. :huepfenlol2:
oh...I see...
My main job skills are a need to type, talk on a phone, sit at a desk and ride in airplanes (or so it seems). I only used the missing digit for the return key - so I adapted! :2vrolijk_21:
Looks pretty nice S/B/B
Are there any extensions available moving the floorboards forward ?
Not only outwards ?
Or forward and outwards ?
Does anybody know ?

Ordered the extentions from HarleyGoodies about 2 weeks ago, got them on Friday and put them on last night. Great service, quality and value. It took me about an hour to do both sides. What a difference in comfort, well worth the price.

like the harley-goodies-ones , but only in black , thxs .
I am still searching forward and outwards mover like the küryakyns http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/catID/10/scID/16/IMID/83 (http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/catID/10/scID/16/IMID/83) ( but this ones will not fit , i was told , wonder why when i look at them )
The wildbillys don`t work .They answered .
But the Küryakyns change the upper mount , what is the problem here with the 09ers ?.
Changing the lower mounts is clear , very difficult on the left side because of the side-stand .
I disassembled to oil cooler to get mine on, way to ez.
I mean that the küryakyn change the joints ( where the brackets meet the board to swap them ) - upper mount .
all the others modifie the lower mount ( where the brackets meet the frame )

And if you decide that the the typical extension kit of 3/4" isn't enough you can "roll your own" by getting the spacers and necessary Allen cap screws at McMaster-Carr.
I use 2" spacers on the right and 3/4" on the left side, with stainless cap screws
I needed the extra room because of the tear drop air cleaner. This air cleaner uses a 1"spacer to install it.
I will try to ask directly at küryakyn , i guess the same like you , they should fit .
Klaus, Yes they sure do fit with no issues! Enjoy! Let me know if you need anything else! Chris Pomorin Dealer Technical advisor 1-715-247-5794 715-247-5007 fax www.Kuryakyn.com “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” Dr. Seuss |

....I thought that i was speeking chinese for you all .
NO no no , not the Greek.
Hey HighJagger, or as we now know, Klaus, thought these would look great on your bike, you could stretch out a bit
Wow ,

Oh, comeon, LarryB!!!It's like they have a different word for everything.
What's a little feta between friends?
::)
It's like they have a different word for everything.
Having installed a set of Harley Goodies' Floorboard Extenders on both of my baggers, I am proud to say I love them. Very good stuff, and a very welcome mod to both of my machines. I'll be doing the same to the passenger floorboards as well........if for no other reason, they make cleaning the bike easier. :huepfenlol2: Seriously, they do let you get your hands into places you otherwise couldn't.......or ended up shredding them in the process, by the main thing is they are so much more comfortable than stock.
Well.... now that you mention it...
My college degree is in Ancient Greek... no... seriously...
They do have a word for everything. For instance, for the most common uses of the English word "love", the Greeks had at least three separate words. The average English-speaking person has a vocabulary of under 2000 words. The average Greek-speaking person at the time of Christ had a vocabulary of some 6500 words.
So, when Homer used the word "rhododactylos", it is translated into English as "dawn". What you lose is that fact that the Greek literally translates "rosy-fingered" describing the rays of the morning sun breaking across the sky from behind the horizon.
Of course, it could also describe the hand of a teenage boy on a lonely Friday night...
 ??? Did I say that out loud ???
I don't know who writes the material for you and Larry, but sign him to a contract. Good stuff. Franklin is beginning to sound like a very scary place to visit...or not!
ThankYouVeryMuuuuuch! LarryB and I will be here all week!
I don't know why I didn't think about it before. I didn't see any reason to do the passenger boards and never thought about how that will make cleaning the left side case so much easier. Anything that makes cleaning the bike easier is a good thing. Does anyone have pics of both sides with the passenger boards moved outward? I'd like to see what they look like.
Hi!
I don't have pictures, but if memory serves correctly, a couple years ago Terry (Midnight Rider) had some custom spacers made that moved his pax floorboards out like 5/8" or something like that. Looked like an inverted tear drop. Purpose was to establish proper clearance between his Rinehart headers and Kury pax floorboard transformers (again...working from memory, so that might be inaccurate). Perhaps Gary (Fired00d) knows where Terry (Midnight Rider) posted those pictures, or you could send a PM to Terry (Midnight Rider) and ask him. Either way, I'm certain Gary (Fired00d) or Terry (Mignight Rider) can help you out, so you can see the difference made by moving the pax floorboards out.

Hi!I believe this is the thread Henry is talking about - Kuryakyn Passenger Pegs (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=10470.0) with the spacers.
