Lifter went south at 24K miles on 2010 FLHXSE. $4K repairs done under warranty. Replaced the HD lifters with S&S Premium and adjustable pushrods at $44K to prevent another grenade (no more warranty). Just had the cam chest inspected at 60K miles and replacement kit installed by independent shop in Frederick, MD. Fueling cam plate, fuel pump, new sprockets, chains, tensioners and Timken inner cam bearings. Cams and lifters were fine.

When I look at the new bikes, nothing out there floats my boat so I plan on keeping Captain Morgan for a long time. So, besides regular scheduled stuff, we'll just keep doing the preventative maintenance as the miles add up.

wouldn't it have been cheaper to just buy a new bike?  :D

I've got 35,000 on mine now.  still have 2 years left on warranty.  if it lasts then near the end of warranty, i'll probably go ahead and do the s&s or even a bb from gmr.

Update on my service work done @ 39k miles.  Replaced Cam plate with Updated SE Cam Plate with HO Oil Pump, Inner Cam Bearing, Cam Tensioner (primary / secondary), S & S Standard lifters and S & S Adjustable Push Rods.  The stock Lifters had a little wear, push rods no wear, Inner Bearing were getting bad, primary Tensioner had some wear, secondary no wear, Cam Plate had some scaring on it, oil pump had some wear.  The Mechanic said it looked good for the mileage with only the inner bearing being ready for replacement, everything could have run for a while longer.  BTY, the top end is quieter now!

My 2012 CVO 110 developed an ever so slight tapping on my way to Sturgis in 2015...riding not trailering. Since I had the extended service plan and it was my first trip to Sturgis I said the hell with it and ran it like there was nothing wrong. On my way back home, to Pittsburgh, PA the tapping grew louder and louder. I took it to the the dealer and they redid the engine at the tune of about $7,000 costing me only the $50 deductable. That was at 30k miles. Now nearing 50k and it is running well. However, since I am covered with the extended service plan into 2019 I am hoping it blows up before then so as to have it rebuilt once again.😀

Just passed the 40K mile mark & has never been touched!

We just got home from 26 days & 6800 mile trip. Bike ran great pulling a Bushtec Trailer. On day 25 Fullsac header broke apart & had to get it welded to get back to Florida. I'm waiting on a new Fullsac header & am looking into changing out the lifters & inner cam bearings before putting the exhaust back together. I've pretty much made the decision to do this as to go with another 4 year extended warranty.

Traded mine in with 34,700 miles with no motor issues. You can see it at the link below. Mechanically it just had Fullsac Headers, pipes, and tune plus a Rekluse clutch.

My rocker box and rocker assembly bolts all came loose at 18k thought it was the lifters till I broke it down and found all the loose bolts.
I changed the lifters to S&S primium lifters and put in Torrington fully compliant cam bearings as I had it apart probably didn't need the lifters but did them and the bearings them then then later.
Have to change the lower cylinder gaskets this winter they're seeping a bit. I'll be changing the rings to Total Seal Rings. I've also just ordered up some rocker lockers ROCKOUT Harley Rocker Shaft Inserts STOP THAT TOP END TAPPING!!! Twin Cam V-Twin

My 2015 FLTRUSE didn't make it to 25K miles, crank bearings went out at 18K so new engine installed, rode home to Calif from Albuquerque, it went to the shop for lifters and since then for the last year, it's been in the shop most of the time for coolant loss and charging problems. I got it back last month, I only have 23K on it now, so far everything seems OK. I've been out riding since the weather is so nice here to get some miles on it to make sure everything holds.

Approaching 40K and no problems so far.....

Extended warranty until 2022 so I'm going to ride it and not worry about anything until the end of 2021

I have a 2013 RG CVO 110", with a Trask turbo charger. Otherwise, engine is stock. Had to upgrade the clutch due to slippage at 142 ft-lb torque. Oil changes every 2500 miles. Now up to 43,000 miles on her. No engine problems. With the turbo, I don't hear any engine noise, haha.

34K and still going strong, no issues! Had a few coolant leaks in the beginning (hose clamps); replaced the heated grips at about 27K (control knob stuck solid); replaced Infotainment system at 32K (went totally bonkers); 3 sets of tires and 1 set of brake pads to date.  LOVE IT!!
