You can gather data but is not going to tell you much as the ION system will chase it.  The system is not the best  however its the only thing we do have..  Adjust the tune the bike if fresh gas does not solve the issue.  Many times shops for what ever reason do not adjust timing tables, do not heat the engine up , or they tune with knock sensor enables and that only creates more issues.

I will also run some Seafoam through it this weekend to see if anything changes. If it's a carbon issue, maybe that will help.

If I ride before getting it checked out, I will do that. However I don't want to rely on additives for it to not ping. It used to not do this, so something is wrong. Would rather get it fixed once and for all than attach a Band-Aid.

I had the same problem and had the biked tuned three time and tried octane booster and cooler spark plugs. In the end it was a cap that had fallen of the throttle body that effects the AFR.

the cap falling off is still tune related and up to the tuner to do some basic checks before tuning..  Like testing intake seals for leaks , fuel pressure, CCP if the DIY guy installed cams,  this stuff should be done and  its not part of the tune per say, but if its wrong hard to tune correctly. The extra work is an extra fee if the history of the bike is unknown .

They only found it after I decided to do an engine build and change throttle body.
